My Dad just texted me because my parents locked themselves out of their wireless somehow, so I have to call them in the morning to talk him through fixing it, but I don't have wireless so I don't really know where to find the password. I'd appreciate any help being in layman's terms as I will be forwarding them to my parents, who are completely clueless. Thanks.

If they don't know it then I think they're screwed... might be a way to reset it though

They'll probably have to call the wireless network people.

if they dont know it then it is probably still the default password. look up the default for whatever brand router you have.

Yeah they don't know it. That's the entire problem I think. I figure there's got to be a way to find it on the computer they used to set it up though.

192.168.1.1 in browser There's a chance that they saved the password so it autofills, and they can access the router and check its settings from there. If not and they can't remember the password, gotta reset.

reset the router to restore default access info look up the model of router's web adress online, its also sometimes plainly scribbled on the side of the router, and type that into the URL of a web browser (i tink most linksys routers are 192.168.1.1) the default admin username and passwords are generally both admin, or admin/password, you can look that up as well then the web page will display the setup menu for the router where u can change things

Even if it's not, the password is usually just admin, type that in and then bam, all of your router information.

Also, a lot of newer routers have the password written on the router label.

If worse comes to worse there should be a button somewhere on your router that resets it to factory.
