On the mod board I was trying to get a contest going where we ranked the games by the percentage of people that would correctly guess them (since we couldn't do the actual contest).

#20 killed my entry. Completely underestimated its popularity.

I started, but I didn't put a lot of work into it. Got about half, had some guesses on what series for about 5 others.

I did. I think I did fairly well, but probably not well enough to win or place. I know I have 17 of them. I took such random guesses on the final 8 pretty much solely on the prayer of series credit and would be surprised if I got even 1 of those right.

These are the ones I know are correct. I actually probably did get series credit on 21, though I put MGS2 after just kind of "giving up" on pinpointing it. Because that one I'm more sure than usual is MGS. The others I guessed on are probably wrong, especially if yours are right (Though assuming you're right on 8, I feel better about my rather silly plan to guess Rune Factory Frontier there, I could have been more wrong at least). Either way, almost positive you beat me.

Well, we do seem to disagree on 13, but I'm almost sure that 13 is MGS - Enclosure. But I could certainly be wrong. Would not be the first time!

Any version of SF2 or FFIV will be accepted. FF4 will also be accepted as FF2. Don't worry too much about that stuff.

Haha, so 16 was Mother 3? I got burned by the artificial rules I constructed for this.

In general, I laid out the following guidelines for myself, despite having absolutely no proof whatsoever, just to make things easier for me:

1. One Song per Game - A series limit clearly did not exist, but I figured that no single game would be repeated.
2. No VNs - Not sure where the mod staff would come down on the "Are they games?" debate. I imagine probably it'd be up the individual mod providing the piece, but still.
3. Had an English Release - This is the one I felt had the biggest chance of burning me, because it was the most arbitrary of my assumptions. Lack of a NA release obviously doesn't make you not a game, but I wasn't sure if any of the mods would go there.

Man, there's another point I lost. =(

Unless it would have replaced something I did know, in which case I'd just have broken even. Actually, since it would have broken the silly release rule I had, there's an exceedingly high chance I'd have gotten Mother 3 too, because I considered it and then went, "Nah... Earthbound, maybe. Mother 3? ...Probably not." Mother 3 was actually the game that caused me to "invent" that rule! >_>

Ah well, it was still a lot of fun either way. We could have VGMusic competitions all the time and I'd be thrilled. <_<

...That actually kind of surprises me. Pretty much everyone so far seems to agree it's Metal Gear Solid, so it's just a matter of us all missing, but that strikes me as a bit odd. That really only leaves like Peace Walker and MGS3 on the table, I think. Unless we're all just wrong about MGS in general. I briefly considered that back when it was still going on, but I couldn't think of a better fit.

Yeah, having followed VGMC rather closely in general (or at least for VGMC4 and VGMC5, as well as the ToC) was a pretty big aid for me, if not in being able to pick out the song immediately (The Moon), then in being able to point me in the right direction based on the style of the song.

Unless we're all just wrong about MGS in general.

Ugh... that's going to bother me until we get results then. I only really leaned MGS because of the very end of the clip, before that I was much less certain and even could have bought like Kingdom Hearts or something (which really only speaks volumes as to how vague my senses on the clip were until then). The very end just struck me as classic MGS though and I couldn't think of anything else with that style, though admittedly I didn't try too hard.

I'm glad to see my selection at #21 ended up being challenging. It was the online menu theme from SOCOM II which is my favorite online multiplayer of all-time. I'm a little surprised only two people got it, but DDJ wanted an assortment of easy and hard tunes. I definitely gave both. ;)

Yeah, but it was filled with excellent tunes. Stickerbush Symphony, Beware the Forest's Mushrooms, The Moon, Scars of Time, Ryoshima Coast, The Four Fiends are all top-tier quality. I also loved hearing Goldeneye and Starcraft right off even though it took me forever to find out which level it was in Goldeneye.

Speaking of forever, I spent nearly three hours on that Banjo-Tooie tune searching through every N64 Rare song I could think of. Just what was it?
