Episode 11: Haven

Watched this last night. It's funny seeing Riker so...weak. Not a bad episode, though. My biggest complaint is easily Troi's mother. What an annoying b****. I wish they would have killed her off.

Haha, Icehawk's character rankings are pretty much exactly the same as mine, except I don't hate Wesley as much. Picard, Riker, and Data are far and away the three best.

-This was terrible. Luckily it was kind of entertainingly terrible, but terrible none the less.
-totally predictable, was 100% sure he would get stuck in the holodeck.
-It was odd how excited Picard was about the holodeck, it's like he had never been in there before!
-I love how terribly pointless their whole diplomatic "meeting" with these insect things were. Picard had to say 2 sentences, then they were totally gone, hilarious.
-also, a surprisingly depressing episode, as the fictional man asks at the end if him and his family were about to disappear. Picard: LOL I DON'T KNOW SEE YA

That's funny... a lot of folks agree this episode was at least OK.

For my money, I've always thought it was alright. It gets away with a lot of cliches for me because it managed to be remotely entertaining in a season full of episodes I'll basically never ever watch again. Plus it's the first holodeck-centered episode in the franchise so it's a trailblazer in that manner. Of course many of the others are much better.

Episode 13: Datalore

-Holy **** what an awesome villain they have created in Lore. I know damn well that dude will be back, no way they just kill him off so quick. Spiner did a great job with this role on a side note.
-Lore is also pretty cool as a character development tool for Data himself.
-I like some of the twists and turns throughout the ep, most notably finding out Data was the replacement, and the reasons for it.
-Wesley was weird in this ep. He was the one who caught Lore twitching when he was acting like Data, but didn't say anything, then later on he caught on when everything was more subtle. LOL at Picard saying SHUT UP WESLEY, then doesn't even apologize later on when it turns out wesley was right, hilarious. Also, wesley is becoming OK.

really solid ep here. kind of like Q, I'm anxious for more Lore!

Episode 12: The Last Goodbye
Hahaha, yeah this episode was pretty terrible, but I loved it. It was extremely predictable. You just knew someone was going to get hurt in there. What's funny is that no one even gave a f*** about the dude that got shot. Everyone was just smiling and laughing at the end, and asking how Picard's vacation was. I think this was one of the two episodes I remember from when I was a kid. I thought they were in Sherlock Holmes' world but I could be wrong. It has been at least 15 years since I saw it! It's like the writers only paid attention to the Dixon story and forgot about the enterprise all together. "HEY LET'S MAKE UP SOME S*** TO GIVE US A REASON TO NEED PICARD BACK". Wonderful. Loved this episode.

lol, I forgot about that. yeah it was hilarious how once they left the holodeck no one gave a **** about what happened to that guy. but then again, he is just the historian. going to that fictional world was probably the most productive thing he had done in years.

If you thought it was OK then you need to watch it at some point. It gets so good.

yeah, one thing that I like is that it seems from the outset it has a big story arc, the dynamics between the characters also seem like they are going to be pretty interesting early on.

by the finale, was it an actual tv finale, or the movie? it seems like theres a movie.

The first sixteen or so episodes are kinda eh by comparison to just about everything after that. The show really picks up later on. The last two seasons are some of the best sci-fi television ever hands-down.

It's also remarkable to see how much of a budget they get later on. Everything looks fantastic by modern standards later but at first it really shows its age and dollar.

Oh hell yeah I would (I prefer Maniac64 or just Maniac btw)! Farscape is A+ Sci-fi. Amazing character development, great plots, great villains, its just so good.

And I joined in on the fan campaign as well, I basically went crazy when I found out that we were actually going to get a mini-series.

LOL at Picard saying SHUT UP WESLEY, then doesn't even apologize later on when it turns out wesley was right, hilarious.

Oops. Had I realized the famous line was coming that quickly I would have waited to say it.

Might have to give Farscape a try. Sounds kind of like Babylon 5. Minus the campaign part. But other than that. The whole overarcing story, A+ sci-fi, amazing character development, plots, villains, first few episodes being not so great, that kind of thing.

Except likely minus the whole "being the best show ever" thing that B5's got going for it.

I never posted anywhere no. My sister was the main person doing everything she just told me what to do and when. IIt was my first taste of that kind of thing so I wasn't really getting to into it (I honestly thought it was pretty hopeless). I honestly don't remember much of anything about it, except for sending Folgers Coffee with a letter to various places and people.

I also came in at the tail end of it since I didn't start watching the series until it was either already cancelled or midway through season 4 (can't remember for sure, but it was cancelled by the time I finished).

Except likely minus the whole "being the best show ever" thing that B5's got going for it.

Nope its got that too (or at least best Sci-fi show).

Episode 13: Datalore

Pretty good episode. Have you guys noticed that weird, almost creepy smile Riker flashes sometimes? It's like he's too happy at times. I've noticed it in more than a few episodes and it's hilarious. Back on topic, this episode was kind of predictable. It was clear we were going to be dealing with a classic case of THE OLD SWITCHEROO. I think this was the first episode that I got a legit ominous vibe from a character. The music really set the mood so that was a big improvement as well. Lore was great. Spiner is a good actor for sure as far as Star Trek acting goes. This is probably in my top 3 episodes so far, maybe even the best.

Edit: And Wesley wasn't too bad here either.

Just watched a bunch of episodes, Datalore is indeed pretty good, but so are the next two episodes, Angel One and 11001001.


Not sure what all this "season 1 is terrible besides only a couple good episodes" stuff is! Sure there's been terrible episodes like the Naked Now and Code of Honor, but lots of episodes like Haven and Where Noone Has Gone Before are pretty good!
