That's awesome Maniac. I need to rewatch it sometime too. So much history between me and Farscape, there really is. I count Ben Browder and Claudia Black telling me to pursue my dreams "no matter what" among the finer points of my brief time!

Farscape Episode 6: Thank God It's Friday, Again
-The usual formula for Farscape episodes so far for me, is in the first 5-10 minutes I'm like "augh this is going to be awful", then the episode continues and I end up liking it.
-I once again had that feeling early on, but this time, I didn't like it quite as much, this ep never quite got going, though seeing party animal Dargo was amusing throughout.
-Aeryn: "She gives me a woody"

Sounds like early Farscape to me!

I kinda like that episode personally but it's a bit slow, yeah.

I don't like that ep. It's not bad, just not good.

It was one of the ones I watched with my buddy on Thursday. With the exception of Aeryn's scientist stuff I really just find that episode boring. And the White lady has such an annoying way of talking.

Farscape Episode 7: I, ET

-John as an "alien" was kind of fun, that was a decent storyline, not great, but OK.
-Rygel's storyline kind of brought things down though. Hes just not even fun to hate, hes just completely unlikable in almost every way. Incredibly predictable too, pretty much any time he is asked to do anything "NO". There was something sort of interesting going with his whole "I've never had to do anything before" but they didn't delve very deep into it, and he is so annoying, it kind of stopped me from feeling sympathetic.
-I love every scene where Dargo and Aeryn bond by insulting john.
-Kind of uneventful as an ep in a lot of ways, I didn't mind it, but I didn't find it very compelling either.

Rygel gets a lot better. Early writing is early.

Anyway, that episode is supposed to happen right after "Premiere"; the DVDs have it wrong. But I can't really say as I blame them since "I, ET" is pretty drab overall.

Yesss.

Somewhere in a box in my basemen I have every episode of this show recorded on VHS tapes.

My brother and my dad recorded them but somehow I ended up with the tapes. I loved the show. Only star trek crew I could really get into. Although i've never seen much of deep space nine.

An exception would be the movies with the original cast. Those were all pretty good.

Favorite character from this series was definitely Q. Wish he was in more episodes. But then again over using him could have ruined the premise of his character.

Check out DS9 when you have the chance. Give it some time -- these shows (except TOS I guess) all really require time to get their groove on.

If you don't like serialized storytelling it might not be for you though.

My Mother recorded every episode, she would even stop and start the recording when it came to commercials to A) Eliminate Commercials & B) Be able to fit 1 extra episode per Tape. Not only that but she would also clip the little blurb about the episode that the TV Guide had and tape it to the VHS box. I ended up with all of it. I tossed them all about 6 months ago when I did a major dumping of all the crap i've collected over the years.

That's me, but with Farscape. I know where all the DVDs are. And before the Starburst DVDs came out I would lend those to friends so they could get into the series. It made it much tougher for them to skip Vitas Mortis (though none of my friends ever end up listening to my advice on that one anyway).

Rygel gets a lot better. Early writing is early.

And that was written as the second episode. Fair warning though, some people never come to like Rygel. OTOH, he is one of my friends second favorite characters (after John).

Hey, has anyone heard about this yet? Don't get your hopes up or anything but who knows, maybe it will go through eventually and there will finally be a new Trek show on the air.

Taken from the topic I made on the Star Trek board...

http://trekweb.com/articles/2011/08/22/Interview-Producer-Reveals-Proposed-New-Star-Trek-TV-Series-Concept-Details-New-Series-Idea-Has-Not-Yet-Been-Pitched-Officially-to-CBS.shtml

Amidst the excitement of Creation's 2011 Star Trek Las Vegas Convention, very cool things transpired, such as William Shatner filming a pilot for his new Reality Series called FAN ADDICTS. Why even the fans themselves took on breaking the Guinness Book of Records when they assembled the largest amount of people in costume to date. Some 1,040 attendees gathered in one place and can be seen here when they received word they had just broken the previous record.

Among these and many other exciting things, I accidentally bumped into Mr. David Foster of 1947 Entertainment. I recalled his name as someone who might be associated with a possible new Star Trek series. I probed him for a bit of information and he was gracious enough to answer a few questions on the topic.

[...]

Trevino: Star Trek has now been re-imagined via JJ Abrams well received vision of Gene Roddenberry's original series. Can you elaborate on whether your series will follow that same path?

Foster: Though Kevin and I did thoroughly enjoy Star Trek (2009), the vision that we have created is true to the "pre-2009 screen canon" (TV and movies). We were also careful with the Star Trek: Enterprise canon as well. Through the years, I have had the chance to get to know many of the original series cast, crew, and even some of the studio execs. I have developed an extremely deep passion for the original vision of Gene Roddenberry. And while Star Trek has moved on with other series that were not exactly in line with Gene's original vision, the roots are there to tap into.

Trevino: What is the time frame of your series?

Foster: The series is set in the post-Voyager era, and is designed to return Star Trek to its original series roots in big and mighty ways, without disregarding the other series and movies. As Star Trek (2009) was an alternate timeline, it will not conflict with any canon there either (Note: David does accept it as an "alternate canon", if you will). The co-creators are avid believers in Gene Roddenberry's 'positive view of the future' and intend to bring Star Trek back to its origins while moving forward with the timeline, integrating the best aspects of each of the previous series.

Trevino: What kind of show will it be?

Foster: The series is highly energized with a much younger cast, and uses cutting-edge future technologies with newly envisioned special effects and designs. It includes Klingons, Ferengi, Andorians, Vulcans, Trill, and many more. The Klingons are getting very restless since the Praxis incident forced them to come to the peace tables, and are tired of having to rely on the Federation for support. The Ferengi have discovered a vast new resource that has propelled them towards instant riches and power beyond anything they have previously experienced.

Farscape Episode 8: That Old Black Magic
-This one had potential to be the best ep so far, I thought it faltered at times, but still ended up being really good.
-They looked like they might give Crais some real depth here, his backstory was interesting... but in the end they decided to make him a mindless goon. Kind of disappointing.
-I also didn't get why the hell creighton just started fighting at the end when he knew it was just giving in, that was kinda dumb.
-Best part of this ep was definitely Zhaan's struggles. At the end, her "savage" side still seems to have a bit of a hold on her, looks like we have our first real story arc.
-we found out how john lost his virginity in this ep. thank god
