I'm sure a bit of the reason was to f*** with the fans or maybe to lessen the sadness, but in effect they made a great episode that tugged at your heartstrings into nothing.

Jurassic Park's ending wasn't "great" the last scene served no other purpose other than to depress the viewer for no reason. There wasn't a theme behind it or even a joke, it was just "BE SAD NOW"

Which sucks, because the rest of that episode was great.
