And as for the topic, I recall an interview with Michael Caine, where he's asked why he's done things like Jaws 3D when he's one of the most respected actors in the world, and he admitted he just wanted to buy a Jaguar. I don't know if it applies, I'm just throwing it out there.

I can respect the opinion that Alien > Aliens (though I disagree with it), but they on the same field, man. Neither is that much better than the other.
