There was only ONE thing that irked me about the movie.

After Cap saves those POWs and they return back to camp, they just barreled through him taking out the bases/buildings where Red Skull was having his weapons built and shipped. I mean sure it was mostly just one action scene after the next but I felt like it just sped through all that **** so quickly, where as the rest of the movie wasn't paced so fast.

I dunno, maybe that's just me. But other than that, the movie was great.

I somewhat agree with you actually. I freakin' loved the movie, but I kind of wish after the first action scene of him busting in, firing a gun, they would have added a bit of training footage in there. Like it seems like there SHOULD have been something there anyway. Cap doesn't use a gun that much, in fact, I think that's the only time he ever marched in firing a gun, after that he started using his shield and expertly throwing it. Well, he shouldn't just suddenly KNOW how to throw the shield perfectly, because there's a method to it that Cap had to learn. They should have shown something like that, and also being taught some fighting moves from other soldiers or something to that extent. Nothing lengthy, just splice it into the montage sorta.

END SPOILERS.

But yeah, freakin' loved the movie, it was just so good. I am SUPER ASS PUMPED for the Avengers.

It kinda bugged me that one second he's busting in a door guns blazing, the next he knows how to throw his shield perfectly every time.

I know Cap was also supposed to be trained in Judo, but like others have mentioned, you can't expect an actor to learn Judo just for a role, and Chris Evans did a really good job with the fight scenes imo. So the Judo aspect of Cap wasn't really necessary. Learning how to throw the shield should have been though.

Movie was alright. Right there with Thor, Evans did a pretty good job as the Captain. Ending was pretty awesome and the Avenger trailer was exciting.

sorry SHINE but when I think of Chris Evans, I think of ****ing. Can't help it.

and they sped through all that stuff for a reason. It was just action scenes and they had LOTS to get through in this movie. It told his entire origin, established all these characters, had it's own story to wrap up, and had to set up the avengers. it handled the time very well for what they had to do, and more action scenes about weapons plants was just a bit superfluous.

Not to mention that if they didn't speed through them, we'd have one big action sequence and then the rest offhandedly mentioned, which probably would have made more people upset.

As with every other movie ever made, it could have benefited from more time. But for what it was, I thought it was astounding.

I was kind of bothered that they never referred to any of the Howling Commandos by name.

Like, if I didn't already know who Dum Dum Dugan was, I wouldn't know that was who he was. Also, I assumed Gabe Jones was actually Nick Fury ;>_>.

They called Dum Dum Dugan by his name once, but I think they just said "Dugan". And let's get real here, the howling commandos names were not at all important. I know as a fan of the comics it is cool to see them and want to have them recognized and all that, but for your average viewer, their names are not at all relevant for the film. I did think it was kind of weird that they casted such good actors like neil mcdonough and derek luke as two of them when they had like two lines each, so maybe they are planning for a possible movie spinoff...if that is the case, then yeah they probably should have gotten named >_>

I went into the movie thinking the Howling Commandos were gonna play a vital role, especially with their history with Cap and the actors they cast. But they're one-dimensional soldiers, with not enough screentime to make any kind of impression or importance to the story. There's a montage scene of Cap and a few of them blowing s*** up, but they could've been soldiers by any other name and it wouldn't made a difference.

and just to be clear the howling commandos are more of a nick fury thing than a cap thing so it isn't like not making them a huge part is really missing a big part of cap's story.

I expected supporting cast members to have some flair, something memorable about them besides one of them if black and speaks foreign languages, and one of them wears a bowler hat? They are just a representation of the film as a whole; its competent, its moves through the required story beats, but its totally forgettable the next day. It's not a bad movie, its enjoyable...its just a very plain film, with none of the spark that is evident in 2008's Iron Man. The main thing I took away from IM was, "Wow, this may be the perfect superhero film". The main thing I took from CA was, "Yep, that was a Captain America movie, alright".

I don't feel like it was plain at all. I definitely do not feel like iron man had like...an incredibly more colorful supporting cast. it was all about iron man. just like this was all about cap. and i love iron man, i just don't "get" what you are saying.

I'm just saying the movie wasn't anything special. It's not particurly funny or witty, none of the performances are outstanding, neither Steve Rogers or any of the other characters are all that interesting personality-wise, the antagonist is a caricature who feels like he's not even in the same movie with Captain America half the time due to their lack of interaction, the emotional moments are just kinda there since you don't really give a damn about Bucky dying or whatever and you know Steve Rogers is gonna be perfectly fine by the end, plane crash or not.

It's...just a serviceable, unspectacular film. Have a couple laughs, eat popcorn while Cap kicks a dude 20 feet in the air, wham-bam-thank you maim, see you in May 2012.

The Howling Commandos were the only supporting cast members I felt got the short end of the stick, otherwise everyone else was given enough time to be interesting, but never steal the spotlight from Cap, and really, that's the way things ought to be. The romance didn't feel as half-assed as Thor, nor quite as interesting as Iron Man, but I do give them credit for having Carter show an interest in Steve's character beforehand and having his heroic build just be the icing on the cake. Humor was appropriate and never really felt out of place or cheesy.

I don't know, I see your complaints, and I can't really say anything except that I disagree.

Man yeah, that was great. I agree, I would have liked to see more action scenes and wish the movie were longer, but I can deal with that. Not as good as Iron Man or the first two Spider-Man movies, but pretty awesome nonetheless. The Avengers trailer had me very hyped.
