With the Normal contest finally out of the way, it's time to move onto the next contest: Psychic. There are a total of 71 entries, which means this contest will last for a while, as well. Not nearly as long as the Normal contest, though. From what I've seen, many of the contests that go on on this board seem to just drag on, and I'm not sure if people really care how long these things go on for. I thought I would use this topic to get people's opinions on how they'd like the Psychic contest to be structured.
I personally don't want these things to last for 30 rounds or more, so in an attempt to eliminate a good amount of Pokemon from the get-go, I was thinking of something like the following for the first round.
Save 1 Pokemon each 30 min Pokemon need 1 save to move on After 24 hours, any Pokemon that have not been saved is eliminated
This approach is not guaranteed to eliminate a lot of Pokemon after the first round, but it's the only thing that I could think of. The problem with the Normal contest was we were only eliminating 4 Pokemon each day in the beginning, and with 92 entries, that would have taken a long time to go through. People lost interest as a result.
The alternative is just to do it the traditional way and eliminate a certain number of Pokemon each day and have that number decrease as the contest progresses.
Let me know what inputs you guys have. If you have other ideas, then feel free to chime in.
This board is active enough that I don't think you need a time limit. Chichiri ran a save game with all the pokemon from gens 1-4 and, as far as I know, loss of interest wasn't a problem. I'd suggest starting with 2 eliminations per round and then you can increase it if things seem to be going too slowly.

i think the traditional format is good - you can be aggressive in the early days. cut 6 pokemon in day one, 5 in days two/three/four, and you're already down to 50.
if you want to spend one day on this 24hour plan, though, it's not a bad idea - anyone who gets lost in it will be the pokemon no one cares about. i wouldn't be surprised at all if everyone gets saved, though - everything has fans.

XxmonsterxX posted... My only concern about your format is that your rounds start with rather strange numbers. i.e. a top 20 looks better than a top 21.
I don't think it really matters what number the rounds start with as voting continues until all placements have been determined, so people are still voting for the Pokemon that goes in the 20th spot.
