There's a discussion going on over at the TV Board about whether or not Breaking Bad will ever be as good a show as The Wire; I think this episode certainly helped its case.

hey don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Breaking Bad and would love it to go on forever, but I can't help but worry that a show like this will run out of ideas.

If it makes you feel better, after Season 3 (which was written up largely episode-by-episode), the writing team for the show spent months planning out what's supposed to be a meticulously planned fourth season. Something tells me that if they were really so forward-thinking, they'd be careful to avoid treading over familiar territory.

Good episode. Nice to finally see that other side of Gus that helped get him where he is. I don't really like the rehab arc with Hank, though.

Also disappointed that with The Walking Dead S2 preview. Was expecting... well, a bit more.

I still don't think we've seen the "other" side of Gus yet; that was still him just conducting business. I'll be (even more) excited if we get to see him lose his temper and not make business his priority.

True, but that was the first time we saw him get his own hands dirty, and he seemed just as comfortable doing it. It shattered the perception that he was just a "behind the scenes" operator and manipulator.
