1. momentum In the game when you start moving from a stop you are slow at first. If you're hanging around in goal, always be moving. At the very least, just keep going in a tiny circle so you can move faster as soon as you do have to pick a direction. It also helps if you start out more and are backing up a little bit that you need to so you can buy yourself more time while moving quickly.
2. the corner If you ever get the ball in the goal, and have so safe play, just jam it into the corner (or behind the net in hockey). If you hug the post, nobody's gonna score on you from there, so it's the safest way to go and lets your team regather around the net if they're far off.
3. keep the ball in sight If the play's on the other end, don't hang out in net. Everything is arrows on the other end, and you can't see where the ball/people are going. Move up a bit to see the ball's movement, you'll be able to get back in time anyway, and will have a better read.
4. fakeouts This is an extension of 2, kind of. Sometimes people will charge the ball, but have no chance of scoring when they get it because you are clearly in their way or they have a bad angle/others in their way. Sometimes it helps just to charge at people like you're gonna attack them, but don't really do it. Back off at the last second to get back in position. It'll make them panic and make a worse play, and sometimes they just give up the ball. This also works with the corner, run at the ball but then go back. It'll stall people often and kill time late in a match.
5. angles obviously play with angles. if you're right in the net, there's 20 degrees of angles they can shoot the ball and score. If you're a little closer, there's only ten degrees to shoot into.
6. hope to god your team bails you out Sometimes you have to run out to make a save, and hopefully when you do, someone jumps into the goal, or a couple people do until you get the ball away. Damn you extha

Top 10 Haxball Players that I can think of right now
10. Essy/Frisby
Only played with Essy a couple of times, but this kid is a solid player in both attack and defence. Has a good touch on him and follows the ball well.
9. Rappinhobo
Hadn't taken too much notice of hobo until him and Gamebop destroyed me and pxl on countless occassions. I could say it was because me and pxl were bad, but hobo and gamebop were actually good. Hobo was the better of the two, has good spatial awareness and a nice finish on him.
8. Haguile
Another solid all rounder, Haguile is a definite spot on anyones team sheet. Controls the middle of the field well and isn't afraid to get back and help defensively.
7. Regaro
Haven't played with Regaro for too long but unlike most Board 8ers he seems to know more about the synamixs of the game than just ball chasing. Has good spatial awareness which is key in this game and decent ball skills.
6. ExTha
ExTha is such a hit and miss player, but if he's on fire, this boy is hard to beat. Not afraid to play in goal, and is pretty decent at it, but he strives on the wings and when he gets a shot away. As long as you don't put him under any pressure so he doesn't choke, he's a top class haxballer.
5. red13n
Good 1v1 player as well as an allrounder in other disciplines. Good awareness, good striking and passing abilities. Very good player.
4. Azp
My main man and the other half of The A Team! In anything other than 2v2 i didn't see Azp as THAT good a player, but he definately had skills. After playing with him in 2v2, there aren't that many other players out there with the passing ability of this lad. Very good defensively and seems to have a good mind for the game.
3. Nee
Offensively, he doesn't rank up there with the greats, but there is no goalkeeper currently better than Nee IMO. He watches those posts like a hawk and rarely slips up. You have to be damn good to score against this kid inbetween the sticks.
2. Fabregas
I'm actually not too sure who this is on the board, but what i do know is this guy is a ****ing ever dominant presence in the field of B8 Haxball. Since the beginning this guy has improved the most for me, he has unrivalled ball control and good passing and shooting skills. He also beat me in the recent 1v1 final today, and he was the only one i was truly worried about as Ermine wasn't there, and rightly so...
1. Ermine/Porcupine
****ing Ermine. Possibly the best striker in the game for me at the moment. The lad just doesn't stop scoring whenever i see him play. Solid at 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. He's not the greatest defensively, but when your this good upfront, you dont need to be...
