Board 8 > God of War 1 was "pretty decent"

finished it yesterday. I thought it did a lot of things pretty well, but nothing great. The story was probably the stand out part, surprisingly. Although I imagine at the time, the presentation was really what put it over the top. Some of the moments and camera angles were impressive even today.

Didn't really like any of the boss fights, but if I had to rank them... Minotaur > Ares > Hydra. Ares had the cool moment of kratos being huge, but the last part takes way too much for my liking.

However, just started GoW2, that opening colossus fight "badass", I think I'm going to like this.

GoW 2 > 3 > 1

Though I like 1 the most because it is the foundation and it gets extra points for that.

Though I totally know it is the worst game of the 3.

Hydra was a pretty plain fight I thought! There wasn't anything that exciting about it. Ares was annoying at times, but at least it was kind of cool. Minotaur was probably the one fight I thought was pretty solid, and nailing him with the flaming logs was fun

I thought the first one was pretty good. GoW2 is pretty much more of the same, just on a bigger scale and with a worse story.

yeah I liked the story in GoW1, and the story already in the first 15 minutes is so bad.

kratos decides to piss off the gods, then gets turned on, and is all stunned about it.

yeah I liked 2 a lot better and there were more bosses. The whole entire Rhodes opening was superbly done.

Yeah, Kratos in the rest of the games is just kinda I AM ANGRY AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. I thought they handled him pretty well in the first game, gave him a real motivation to do what he did. Haven't played 3 so I dunno there!

I was really impressed that the GoW managed some of the best visuals and largest areas on the PS2, and did it with a total load time of like 10 seconds. No idea how they managed it, although IIRC, GoWII is similarly impressive.

3 really brings the plot of 2 together. Like, I can't believe it was even two games, although it seems like it was their plan to have it be like Kill Bill from the start.

yeah, with it being redone in HD it really holds up decently. the score is amazing too.

I hope the fixed camera gets better in the other games though, it had some bad moments in the first.

And that's not anything against 1. That just reveals the quality of the next two.

Going back to play them in the GoW collection REALLY puts this in perspective

yeah thats a good flaw I didn't think of. A lot of fights last waaaay too long, already noticing improvement so much in GoW2, this is great stuff already,
