I don't care if it only faced games with no more than two wins, it still did what it had to do. Can't fault an entrant for that

No, you can't.

Doesn't mean you're obligated to reward them either.

By KCF's logic, a game that beats the following in its first eight weeks would be among the best in the contest:

There's something flawed about this.

Two things are wrong with this:

1. I just got done talking about how I do my rankings so you should have seen that I never said that it would be among the best in the contest. If it does happen to reach the tournament, I highly doubt that it would advance very far

2. There is no such thing as a flawless ranking system

For me, not ranking a game is not necessarily penalizing it. Rather, a game has to show that it deserves to be ranked before I rank it. If you can't demonstrate that, because the schedule gives you no opportunities to do so......too bad. You don't start with a blank slate and accumulate losses that hurt your rank, you start off in the same position as all the other games, which, in a field of 168, is not in the top 25.*

*Except, of course, we didn't go into this tournament blind about this board's preferences, so there is a preseason top 25.

I just now saw this one and this is how I vote:

Games I love > Games I like > Games I feel indifferent about > Games I don't like > Games I hate

I don't vote on matches where I haven't both games because you cannot tell the quality of a game without playing it, so how can you vote on a match in a contest about which is the better game?

I apologize being so late with the results. I barely had time to post the new matches before I left as it was.

#10 Super Mario World (Thousand-Year World of Sunshine Conference) (8-1) – 29 (64.44%)
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Cult RPG Galaxy Conference) (8-1) – 16 (35.56%)
--Mario World hands POR its first loss in blowout fashion, a result that surprised (virtually) no one.

F-Zero GX (Patriot Time Portals Conference) (5-4) – 15 (33.33%)
#21 Final Fantasy VI (Twilight Barrel Galaxy Conference) (7-2) – 30 (66.67%)
--The competition has gotten a lot stiffer for F-Zero the last few weeks, so the wins have been harder to come by.

#3 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Zelda Overload Conference) (9-0) – 34 (80.95%)
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (Brawl for Broke Conference) (4-5) – 8 (19.05%)
--LTTP gets to 9-0 with a beatdown of Brotherhood.

Worms: Armageddon (Patriot Time Portals Conference) (3-6) – 13 (30.23%)
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Thousand-Year World of Sunshine Conference) (6-3) – 30 (69.77%)
--TTYD has no problem getting rid of Worms.

#5 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Metroid Eater Conference) (9-0) – 32 (78.05%)
Star Ocean: The Second Story (Smash Trigger Conference) (2-7) – 9 (21.05%)
--MGS3 stays unbeaten with an easy win over Star Ocean 2.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Games of the Decades Conference) (6-3) – 22 (48.89%)
#11 Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations (Fanservice Conference) (9-0) – 23 (51.11%)
--MGS2 tried its hardest, but it couldn't pull the big upset of a highly ranked unbeaten game two weeks in a row. Somewhere, LMS is surely wringing his hands wondering how T&T could possibly be stronger than Super Metroid.

Contra (Games of the Decades Conference) (4-5) – 21 (56.76%)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Brawl for Broke Conference) (0-9) – 16 (43.24%)
--Alpha 3 just can't seem to catch a break, and it falls to 0-9 with a loss to Contra.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (Thousand-Year World of Sunshine Conference) (6-3) – 18 (43.90%)
#25 Mega Man 2 (Zelda Overload Conference) (9-0) – 23 (56.10%)
--DMC3 gave it a good shot, but it wasn't able to put that first blemish on MM2's record.

#1 Chrono Trigger (Smash Trigger Conference) (9-0) – 36 (81.82%)
World of Goo (Cult RPG Galaxy Conference) (2-7) – 8 (18.18%)
--World of Goo got into a world of trouble in its match against CT.

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (Zelda Overload Conference) (1-8) – 13 (34.21%)
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (Tanooki Blitzball Conference) (7-2) – 25 (65.79%)
--You know, I think you could easily transition something like Dragon Quest into a Harvest Moon style game, and not many people would catch the difference!

Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Sonic Overload Conference) (6-3) – 22 (48.89%)
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Games of the Decades Conference) (7-2) – 23 (51.11%)
--Majora's Mask was up 21-14 late in the match, and S3&K went on a tear to try to catch up, but it fell just short of the comeback.

Sonic Adventure 2 (Sonic Overload Conference) (8-1) – 29 (65.91%)
Halo 2 (Metroid Eater Conference) (2-7) – 15 (34.09%)
--Sonic Adventure 2 is 8-1 with an easy win over Halo 2.

Star Fox 64 (Twilight Barrel Galaxy Conference) (7-2) – 31 (70.45%)
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Nintendo Objections Conference) (5-4) – 13 (29.55%)
--Kirby 64 stayed close for the early part of the match, but Star Fox 64 just went berserk later on in the match and blew this thing wide open.

Battletoads (Brawl for Broke Conference) (1-8) – 20 (47.62%)
Animal Crossing (Tanooki Blitzball Conference) (5-4) – 22 (52.38%)
--The toads just couldn't pay off their debt to Tom Nook in time.

Nothing nonsensical about TNT > Super Metroid, at least as far as "consistency" is concerned.

On a side note, how scary is it that Animal Crossing could potentially improve to 7-4 after the next two weeks? Wait, I don't mean scary, I mean...hilarious!

And it looks like 16-bit Toon Link wants to do everything possible to make up for that bad performance against the Jedi Knights.

By this point, I'm honestly convinced that A Link to the Past is the strongest "old" Nintendo game, and the strongest Nintendo title aside from Melee.

I regard LttP Link to be Toon Link, just not the same one present in The Wind Waker.

I didn't want to say "LttP Toon Link", so I said "16-bit Toon Link" instead.

Wow, Metal Gear Solid 2 has been impressing lately. Metal Gear Solid in general has looked pretty good, really. Granted, Super Metroid and PW3 could be overrated, considering Super Metroid hasn't faced anything notable prior to MGS2, aside from an SFF match against DKC. PW3 hasn't face anything notable, either, aside from narrowly defeating GSC, which hasn't exactly impressed.

MGS2 has lost to the following: MGS1 (close match), Galaxy 2 (pretty handily, but it was the first week), and Trials & Tribulations by one vote. It's defeated Super Metroid, Mega Man 3 (handily), and Skies of Arcadia. It hasn't done too shabby considering it's tough schedule. Too bad it's going to have its fourth loss to MGS3 next week, delaying serious consideration for the Top 25 for a while longer.

And, man, the Wind Waker and Majora's Mask have been stinking it up lately. I thought Wind Waker's easy win over Okami and Majora's Mask's win over MGS actually meant something. I still hope Okami will recover from its two losses and end up ranked, when all is said and done. It probably won't happen, though.

Oh, and check out the schedule for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. This HAS to be the toughest schedule in the contest by now:
Wins against:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Lufia II
Team Fortress 2
Super Mario RPG

Losses against:
Chrono Trigger
Mario Kart 64
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario World

Future matches:
Mario Bros. 3
Goldeneye
Skies of Arcadia

I have faith in you, SOTN! Okay, maybe not against SMB3, but against other future noteworthy opponents.

Huzzah for quick post! I didn't even know it existed....

I forgot about Goldeneye. I had no idea it was 2-6.

Wins against:
God of War II
Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Losses against:
MK64
SSBM
SMW2
SF64
TTYD
EBound

Future matches:
B/W (to be decided today)
SOTN
FFVII

So, Goldeneye will face only two weaklings by the end of Week 11, as opposed to three weaklings for Symphony of the Night. The heavy-hitting opponents SOTN has to face, though, are a bit more rough, having faced four games that are top 10 material.

Star Fox 64 vs. Paper Mario is coming, then? That will be interesting to see.
