It does give you a mention.. a mention that typically brings me back to windows if I have something full screen. Its weird it didn't take you out of full screen
There must be some sort of setting where you can... turn that off. I've never allowed such a thing to happen and, as a result, never experienced an automatic shut down.

start->control panel->windows update->change settings->pick something besides the horrible default.
