Hope Newcastle land that loan for Danny Sturridge. Him and Ba in front of the new midfield would be pretty fun.

I'm annoyed that United have signed two players already while we can't finish the signing of freaking Gervinho without a damned saga about it.

Hey icon, rumor has it that if we sell Clichy we might be in for Jose Enrique.

I don't know how much Newcastle you actually get to watch, but how upset would you be to see him go?

I'd be really upset. Enrique is a great, consistent defender and he gets on well with the team. And the worst part about it is that Newcastle would most likely pocket the profit from the sale and not look for a real replacement.

I think the whole scenario with Fabregas is ridiculous. If Barcelona want him then pay what he is worth instead of offering far less than what he is worth and then crying over Arsenal rejecting.

Utd wise, I'm happy with our signings so far but realistically we need a world class centre midfielder and it doesn't look on the cards. De Gea will be an awesome addition though.

Yeah, it's a damn shame. I can totally empathize there. We spent probably 25% of our sales from Toure and Adebayor and never saw the rest of it go anywhere.

I hope we get him though. I KNOW Gibbs ain't ready to step right into the first team but he does provide solid cover and JE comes with prem experience and the added bonus of motivation from stepping up to a big club.

What really annoys me on a regular basis is how European countries demand a King's ransom for all their players even if they aren't truly world class purely because it's a Premier League club buying. Then when the boot is on the other foot and they are buying from the Premier League, they offer peanuts and baulk at any sort of reasonable price.

Like if a Premier League club was buying some like say Berbatov (i.e. Very good in spurts but can go missing) then they would have to pay 25m+. Yet when a Premier League club is selling that exact same player they'd be lucky to get 15m, probably more like 8-10m.

It is but it's also double standards. They can't complain about the prices Premier League clubs want for players whilst at the same time doing the exact same **** themselves.

If English Clubs keep paying they'll keep doing it.

Jack Wilshere has been such a revelation this season. Cesc leaving would deflate all of that for me. Cesc is who I tied myself too when Thierry left and if he leaves I'll be devastated!

Mark these words. Cesc ain't leaving this year. I think that Barcelona just want to keep watering the seed that they've planted this summer. I'm sure we'll have tons of Xavi/Puyol/Pique bullcrap to sift through but at the end of the day, Barcelona really can't afford to pay what we value the player at. They've said as much, and they've shown as much. Their target is Alexis Sanchez.

Imagine what this feels like for Cesc. He does want to go, but he respects the hell out of Arsenal and loves AW. The problem is, his supposed "home club" isn't willing to pay for him. "YEAH WE WANT HIM BACK but uhhh not for that much he's a bit of a bargain player, not worth truly top dollar."

I hope this sours him to Barcelona over the coming years and he decides to finish his career at Arsenal but that's a bit of a pipe dream, though who knows... we win some things in the next three years and maybe he realizes he doesn't need to leave!!!

Enrique is, I would be confident to say, one of the top 10 full backs in the world at the moment. If he goes, he'll go for a profit on top of what we bought him for and he's been an excellent player for 4 years for us, through relegation and return. It'll obviously be gutting to see him go, but I could understand it if he moved to a Champions League side and he'll always be welcome on Tyneside.

Nolan it really hurt to see go, because he went to a relegated side because we couldn't match their wage offer for our captain. That is a sad state of affairs and an awful way to treat a guy who got a hat-trick against the scum. But again, he'll never have to buy a drink up here.

And no offers yet for Barton, Jonas and Coloccini, so maybe we'll be able to hold onto those 3.

Nah, that's the issue with Barton's contract. Nolan we just weren't willing to pay him the 55k/week West Ham were.

Well, to be completely honest we were willing to match the overall yearly income, but his bonuses were dependant on the club finishing in the top 7. Which is absurd, because that's not the job of one player.

Nah, it was about the contract length, too. West Ham will be paying Nolan 55k a week when he's 33 -- I hate to see him go, and he's one of my favourite players. but I'm okay with it given the circumstances.

Barton can leave whenever he likes. Douche.

One good season in Serie A =/= amazing player.

I hope Barca fork over 40m for him though. That'll show Cesc how they value him. The best midfielder in the Premier League isn't worth as much as some flashy one-good-season guy from Serie A?

Fabregas completed 38 through balls in the league last year, 15 more than the next most, and that's in only 22 starts by the way.

And created an assist every 171.6 minutes of play, which was the best in the league by a mile.

His goal return was down last year, but eh, injuries happen.

There aren't any mids in the EPL that touch Cesc. Sorry.

Yeah this is more "clever play" than cowardice but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Also, Dan Roan (reliable football journo at the BBC) just tweeted that Barcelona have instructed a well-known sports agency to start working on Fabregas' image rights and to come up with ideas for "maximum commercial exploitation" of Fabregas' homecoming. If that's true, sounds like Barcelona think the deal is done.

We won't be seeing Liverpool buy anyone after Stewart Downing until they get rid of all the people they don't want (Cole, Aquilani, Konch, Poulsen and Jovanovic). All rumoured to have their salary above 100k pounds mark.

But I say Jovanovic has never been given a chance to prove himself. He's only had 10 games out of at least 50 and less than half of them are starts. A guy who can pip someone like Steven Defour to the Player of the Season award, and hang with guys like Dejan Stankovic, Vidic, Milos Krasic, Ivanovic and Zigic (in Serbia) can't have gone bad overnight. Too bad he had too high a starting wage and probably unwilling to drop his wage. He could've been a good backup for Pool.

And Alexis Sanchez I believe is no flash in a pan. Last season he help eliminate AC Milan from the Coppa Italia y'know. Why the hate on Serie A Extha?

From what I remember Jova is on something ludicrous like £130k per week with the justification of 'Hurr durr I r coming on free transfer, give me moar wage'. Wages have spiralled ridiculously out of control in the past few years. Hell, the past 10 years and more even.

He looked half decent in spurts imo but always looked like he was just collecting a paycheck and never really interested.

Well it's mostly that I'm a big proponent of the Premier League being the best league in the world by miles, and also that I'm just finding it hysterical that Barcelona are willing to throw "whatever" at a one season dynamo like Alexis Sanchez and feel they deserve a bargain price on one of the best midfielders on the face of the earth.

I'm sure Sanchez will be a fine player, but Cesc already IS a fine player and there's no way they should be getting him for anywhere around the same price they're gonna pay for Sanchez.
