My general rule is to wait for the first service pack with any new Windows iteration, and this one straight up looks like it was rushed out the door with missing features so there's even more reason to do so this time.

Taskbar is the biggest problem overall, which includes the bit about seconds being removed from the clock

as someone that always had their Taskbar set to "combine when taskbar is full" (and can't recall a time the taskbar got the the point of collapsing) - I hate that labels on your taskbar windows are no longer an option and you can only have the grouped icons

also for fuck's sake you also can't drag files to different windows by dragging them to the taskbar anymore, so you either have to have both the windows you're transferring between up at once, or alt-tab between them while dragging

I don't think Windows 11 is an automatic update, but I could be wrong.

I've never had seconds on my taskbar clock. You sure that's not a special feature you enabled somewhere before?

I'm assuming the missing requirement is enough hard drive space so I'll just continue being in the "red zone" for perpetuity...

the requirement might be TPM 2.0 which you might just be able to enable through your BIOS

but yeah this wasn't forced on me, like I said I've had zero issues with past upgrades, even the dreaded 8.0 so I figured why not again (I am looking forward to the future native android app feature)

I mean when you click the clock / open the calendar there's a more detailed clock in Win10 with the seconds

Win11 doesn't do that...... there's even a "Clock" app you can open which, again, still doesn't show the full time

Same! I deal with enough troubleshooting my computer that I'm not in any rush to introduce additional crap to worry about.

I held off for years, still using Windows 7 until last year. I ended up getting a brand new laptop with my covidbux, and Windows 10 actually isn't all that bad. So, I'll probably throw Windows 11 on this thing soon, but I wanna finish a video game I've been playing through because I don't wanna take any risks with the upgrade screwing with compatibility.

also dual-booting another OS on this thing, and I had to disable Secure Boot to get it running (apparently it's required for Windows 11?)

One think Windows 11 might've fixed for me however is my HDMI audio disappearing after my PC recovers from sleep mode, unless I go into Device Manager > Scan for hardware to get my audio back.

I've had this issue a while on Win10, I've seen others with the same issue recommended a regedit tweak, which did work... although every once and a while got reset and I'd lose my audio overnight again.

The past 2 days however I don't think I've had to fix my audio after sleeping overnight... and if that's the case I can kinda be happy even if frustrated at the garbage taskbar functionality
