on Steam, Xbox or Playstation, every achievement was worth store credit, based on how hard the achievement is. I bet more people would be into achievements then. If you were really motivated, you could earn free games from all the achievement hunting

Honestly this sounds like the beginning of a pretty cool idea.

Imagine if you could get a playstation credit card, buy a game, download it now while a physical copy is shipped to you, and then use all the achievements you got like cash back or something.

I think if someone could figure out how to work that out with Sony, MS, or Nintendo they could make some decent money.

The Playstation stars thing is kinda doing thing. Not specifically tied to trophies and it's own little thing.....and what you earn from completing the requirements is pretty small. But you can redeem the points for certain games and psn credit.

It could be neat if used by specific companies. Like get 25% off GTAVI if you have the platinum for GTAV.

Heh it would get abused because cheapo developers would specifically make games with 'hard' achievements to get easy sales.

Both Xbox and Playstation have reward point programs to encourage people to get specific achievements or play specific games. Microsoft additionally rewards people to use Bing lol

I still wouldn't try to get the achievements lol. Since a bunch of stuff in the games I play are like beat story or arcade mode with every character, beat time attack within ___ time, beat ___ waves in survival, or other single player stuff. And I haven't played single player content in fighting games since I was in elementary school

How about if they unlocked stuff in the game, old school style?

Beat this level in under five minutes, get big head mode.

Get a gold medal on this level, unlock the TIE Fighter

I don't think game stores care enough if you unlock achievements to give you money. That would make no sense from a business standpoint. Once you buy the game they don't care how long you play it. In game unlocks would make more sense.

I always thought going for achievements was the most pointless thing since they do nothing currently. I don't even read the achievement messages when they pop up on the screen.

There actually used to be a PSN program years ago that would give you store credit for trophies. They ended up discontinuing it in favor of the new Stars thing though. I think the issue was that a bunch of cheap games starting popping up that abused the system (ones that only took ~5 minutes for a platinum)

Then Achievements and Trophies wouldnt be a thing anymore. Or theyd be vastly different. Idk. Theyd find some way to fuck it up lmao.
