The man had a conviently timed "Self Inflicted Wound" right in the middle of a deposition / investigation that Boeing is going through by the US government where this man is a key witness on the stand.

How "Awfully Convenient" for all this to happen at this time.

damn I just read an article about this guy a couple weeks ago. he seemed to really actually care about the industry and the work they were doing and the people in charge just..didn't.

I don't know how many times I have seen self inflicted gunshot wound to the head or inhalation of carbon monoxide (if the car exhaust was used) in articles, that's pretty much bs

Barnett was in Charleston being deposed by Boeing lawyers last week. He was scheduled to give additional testimony on Saturday but never made it.

Boeing then announced that he was found in his truck parked outside of his hotel, dead of a "self-inflicted gunshot wound.

usually those are only confirmed much later on, or they're just speculation at the beginning. just look at all the rumors around deaths like Matthew Perry or Bob Saget. places were reporting 'how it happened' the next day and then were proven wrong.

yeah, it's possible he felt guilty about all the deaths even though they weren't really his fault, and took his own life. but obviously someone still needs to investigate.

Valery Legasov hung himself 2 years after Chernobyl, even though he wasn't really responsible for any of the deaths, the Soviet government was. but he recorded his testimony before he killed himself, so it's kind of the same situation with the whistle blowing

this is of course completely reliant on them proving he actually killed himself.

Boeing is not an Airline though

He said in some cases, sub-standard parts had even been removed from scrap bins and fitted to planes that were being built to prevent delays on the production line.
It established that the location of at least 53 "non-conforming" parts in the factory was unknown, and that they were considered lost. Boeing was ordered to take remedial action.
On the oxygen cylinders issue, the company said that in 2017 it had "identified some oxygen bottles received from the supplier that were not deploying properly". But it denied that any of them were actually fitted on aircraft.

So basically Boeing purposely sold planes that were junk and going to fall apart risking the lives of millions who travel on their planes and he blew the whistle on this and all the sudden he is found dead.

And he's a critical "Star Witness" for the government.

So the timing of his death is incredibly suspicious.

Last week, the FAA said a six-week audit of the company had found "multiple instances where the company allegedly failed to comply with manufacturing quality control requirements".

This is insane. They better get more than just a few million in fines.

it isn't even about retaining them but more a cost analysis

if they lose the lawsuit how much will it cost? would it ruin the company? now what if they hire a hitman and some people get caught? seems they were bad enough in this case they might have actually done it
