Haven't played since 2 on the GameCube

2 was the only one i've played any significant amount of time.

2 felt the best to play, but 3 had that awesome world map mode with dungeons and stuff. And I want to say the customization was best in 6 but I could be wrong on that one.

Plus there's all the wacky crossover characters in some of the later games, like Yoda and 2B.

2 > 6 > 1 > rest

Six was fun. It was cool to create a character even if it was just a clone.

Still 2 though.

Gun to my head... 2 > 6 > 1 > 3 > 4 > 5.

They're all good. 5 was the only one I'd call "disappointing."

2, 3, and 6 are all pretty interchangeably good honestly. Personally like 3 the best.

3 is underrated, might be my personal favorite but 2s hard to beat.

1 and 2 were awesome. Didn't really play the others all that much. Think I played 3 or 4 when I had Gamefly forever ago, but it didn't have the same magic.

More interesting question would be what was the worst one in the series.

5, handily. 4 atleast kept classic characters. 5 had all of 4's faults and then some, by replacing half the cast

The only good thing 5 introduced was ZWEI.

They kept finding ways to fuck things up after 2. Bland content, bloated mechanics, stripping movesets.

I'm a casual fight fan. I only ever played the first 2 and liked both, thought 2 was pretty fun.

Yeah I wasn't kidding. ZWEI is the only good thing about 5. I wish he would have came back for 6, but otherwise I'm not mad that 6 basically ignored 5 completely.

I want Soulcalibur 2 with a Create-a-Character mode, an actual Vs. Com mode, and all three Guest characters available at least on the Nintendo release of the game.

Then, it'd be perfect.

I disagree. Viola was also a fun "newcomer" (in quotes because it's highly speculated that she's actually Amy which would mean she's not actually a newcomer), Aeon was a neat way to incorporate Lizardman while also recycling parts of Kratos' moveset from Broken Destiny, and Ezio was such an amazing guest character that I actually mained him due to a lack of best girl Talim in that game. He was so fun to play as, and I'd love to see him come back in a future SC game, or at least his moveset recycled in some way.

But I do agree that 5 has plenty of flaws and is likely the worst in the franchise.

2 or 3, 6 seems okay but I haven't really played it. 3 had CaC but 2 had unique weapons.

While I'll give you Viola, Aeon gaining a new moveset became a thing in... 3 and 4. 5 changed his moveset even more, but it had already been a thing, by that point.

But yes, I do agree with you. I loved Viola, so I agree ZWEI wasn't the only good thing. Maybe they meant ZWEI was the only good "new" character, if you assume the other new characters didn't include Amy/Viola.

2 and 6 tied for the top

5 is the worst but its easy to understand why with the rush job that was the game and how much content the originally wanted to have in it that was cut with no chance to ever add it in post launch(which really hurt the game, You introduce lots of new characters and barely have any story surrounding them)

3 and 6
3 had the best side content. It's marred by technical glitches (save deletion and memory card corruption)

Yeah I meant ZWEI was the best new thing. I assumed Viola being Amy was canon? Maybe it's not I don't know. If it's not canon then I take it back. Otherwise I stand by ZWEI being the only good new character in 5. I don't really count guest characters to be fair but mileage may vary

I don't think it was ever confirmed in canon, at least not that I'm aware of. Hinted at, but never confirmed.

I do, at least the ones with unique styles. I liked Link and Spawn (Heihachi was meh) in 2, I wasn't really a fan of the Star Wars characters in 4, I never played Broken Destiny but I've heard Kratos was fun, Ezio in 5 was amazing, and I also liked both Geralt and 2B in 6. I think 6 might have had at least one more added in DLC, but that was after I had stopped playing and following the game.

I think the reason I don't really count the guest characters is because they're all non-canon, and so they could have appeared in pretty much any game with no difference whatsoever. Yeah some are more fun than others, but they're ultimately interchangeable when it comes to the actual quality of games.

SoulCalibur III, no competition, SoulCalibur Broken Destiny closest second, then SoulBlade/SoulCalibur/SoulCalibur II split third

Soul Blade is a terrible clunky mess. The difference between Blade and Calibur is like Street Fighter and Street Fighter 2.

I'd rank the series 2>6>3=1>4>5

SC2 by far. SC6 comes in second follow by SC3 but SC2 was ultimately what put the series on the map.

I've only played 1 and 2, and I'll say that I honestly enjoyed 1 more than 2. I put way more hours into my Dreamcast game than I did my GameCube game, even with Link being playable.

2 and it's not even close

This, but 6 might be good if it wasn't scattered in a bunch of pieces. Broken Destiny on Psp is surprisingly a good second place.
