I completely forgot they were making this.

I didn't forget, very hype. It looks scarily similar to the movie though. Or at least more like Game of Thrones instead of a regular TV show. Still gonna give it a chance.

I don't know why they have Azula or how they will use her though. I feel like they cast her mostly because by the time they film season 2 she'll be the right age.

They do technically show Azula in season one during the flashback to the Agni Kai, and she stands out just enough for you to think this is gonna be a character in the show

I agree she looks a little babyfaced here. In the show shes all about sharp angles

This looks a little more grim than I'd like but they do show Aang laughing at the end so maybe they can keep up the tone balance.

I don't have a specific objection (other than tone) but I have a bad feeling

didn't the show's original creators leave this project due to "creative differences"? to me that's a pretty good reason to not really have much interest in this.

Yeah and they restarted development a couple times with new directors

visuals look pretty good! i'm pretty unconvinced about how the quality of the show will be (and fully expect to get butthurt), but i'll inevitably watch

This feels like a show I will just.. Sit back and let others watch first.

the actor is 21 apparently, so wouldn't expect too much of a change in s2.

Not got the greatest vibe from this. Reminds me far too much of the movie tbh. Hopefully I get proven wrong but, absolutely not too excited for this.

The fact that this took this long is a massive red flag

Yeah the fact that the original creators have pretty much completely disavowed this combined with how long it was stuck in development hell gives me absolutely no desire to watch this. Most I can hope for is it's so bad that I at least get some amusement from other folks getting uproarious about it.

I wonder if any major world event happened 4 years ago that might have an impact on film scheduling

DiMartino and Konietzko departing due to creative differences is definitely a reason to be cautious but I think that happened during the rumored aged-up what if they fucked version if I remember the timeline right. So they might have corrected course since then.

Yeah the high school TV-MA stuff was leaking out around that same time, I can't imagine the state of the show now is anything like it was when they walked.

foolmo just made up the age thing. She was 19 when filming started and 21 now.

I guess that makes more sense
