Screen buzzes, cracks.

Onward to the third season. The series was bought by Netflix and got much higher budget, but did it make the series better? Either way, don't forget to give this topic a 5-star ranking after voting!
The episode is set in a world where people can rate each other from one to five stars for every interaction they have, which can impact their socioeconomic status. Lacie (Bryce Dallas Howard) is a young woman overly obsessed with her ratings; she finds an opportunity to elevate her ratings greatly and move into a more luxurious residence after being chosen by her popular childhood friend (Alice Eve) as the maid of honour for her wedding.

7.5/10

Fairly so-so concept, good execution. The most memorable aspect is the gas station guy that rates her low because the conversation was not interesting. Different peoples interpretations of the rating system make it more believable.

This was definitely a turning point because while it was a higher budget it was also distinctly sillier

7.5 feels fair

this was a fun episode which, in retrospect, was the start of the "netflix-ifying" of the show (i.e. being less deep)

the way i felt about it was sort of like, it was the most straightforward possible implementation of the idea. like if you asked a writer's room for all the first ideas that come to mind for a story about a dystopian social credit score and then just put them all in, but never really tried to mine your brain for anything beyond the surface level ideas.

i feel bad giving it a higher rating than i gave some of the earlier episodes because i think it's probably worse than them, but, like, it was still a really fun episode, so.

7.7, a solid entry but not super deep.

Also I missed yesterday but would like to give it a

White Christmas - 10

Could have been split into two episodes, and both would have been Hall of Fame-level for me!

It explored a neat idea, but, for me personally, this episode was incredibly cringey. Everyone acting so fake towards eaxh other was the whole point, I know, but watching it made my skin crawl and I didn't like it

That was exactly my problem with it. If some people interpret the system that way, there's no way anyone would have high scores to begin with.

It's funny that this exchange could be used to describe this topic series as well. One person can rate an episode highly for executing the concept it presents well, whilst a different person also recognises this yet rates it much lower because the concept makes them feel uncomfortable. I would personally say making the viewer feel uneasy or being thought provoking is half the point of Black Mirror, but to each their own. It's their time they're spending to be entertained after all.

7.8 for Nosedive

As the topic series goes along I realize that I really enjoy episodes where we can see how a technology changes society as a whole. I love the worldbuilding and this episode really puts that on the forefront.

2/10

Possibly the worst episode in the series (haven't seen all of them) and it's the most naked example of the shallowness of the series overall (which Dels put well - take all the first draft ideas and blend them all up). Especially if you compare to the Community episode, which went deeper with 1/3rd the length and maybe 1/10th the budget.
