But there really being a demon that needs to be passed along and possess family members was really meh. I thought the reveal was how none of this supernatural stuff is really happening and theyre all crazy. Nope. A real demon....sure ok. What matters is if the plot is interesting and unpredictable (it was) and if it's scary (and hell yeah it was).The final third of the movie was probably the most intense shit I've seen. I didn't mind that it dealt with demon possession, and I thought that everything leading to the daughter's death, and its aftermath were great. also, the movie had good performances all around. besides that, it didn't do anything for me, and I thought the shocking imagery towards the end bordered between overdone and dumb. lastly, the exposition at the end brought down the movie's overall quality, for me, even more - the one fortuneteller let's you know what's going on earlier in the movie, but then they have to explain everything at the end, like they didn't trust the viewers to get it until then. --- Don't you agree, Zach? https://streamable.com/bmh5oq <cite>boxoto posted [p:975053990] in I saw Here... Then I wondered about the name Hereditary because it seemed like it was hinting to a family of mental illness. Then the actual Hereditary part is that it's a family all dedicated to serving a demon. So the pieces were all there I suppose. Well done movie either way, I love that it didn't use jumpscares. They build up that the family has a history of mental illness and their paranoia just keeps ramping up. It's supposed to be just as much of a surprise to the characters as it is to the audience that it's all real.
