Though I will say I feel less strongly about this than basically any full flatface dog. Pugs, etc. Sorry, but dogs that have been deformed for looks to the point where they struggle to breath and are some of the few pets that DON'T mind having pets shove pipes down their throats after the first minute because they realize they can actually BREATH NOW should not be bred any more even moreso than pits by a magnitute. Yes, a good owner can have a good pit bull, almost always. But the fact that the breed was bred for a particular thing means you are basically dealing with much a less dramatic version of a dud bomb. Bad owners exist for all kinds of dogs. But even so, one is singled out. Because it was bred that way. No matter how good you are, how nice you are, you have to realize two things. Number 1. These dogs require more than just a normal owner, you need to be at your best, and understand they take more care than normal, in a way that is somewhere between a normal dog and an exotic pet. You have to accept that fighting has been brought back into the breed from the wild instincts dogs used to have. Number 2. You have to accept that there is a very small, but non-zero chance that, no matter how lovingly you raise them, something might eventually set them off during their lifetime, and you won't know what. This is not an every-dog thing, only a handful do this. Its just a much bigger handful. So don't treat them as something to show off.
