Sul-sul!

The Sims 3 > The Sims 2 >= The Sims 4 = The Sims 1

I really enjoyed The Sims 3, especially due to how we can freely explore the neighborhood. It blew my mind back when it was first announced and it's still kinda mindblowing. The game takes forever and a half to start, but in my experience it doesn't run that badly once it starts going. The interactions are fun and the gameplay is pretty well-balanced.

The Sims 2 is quite simplistic but still a big jump from The Sims 1 and I think a pretty nice balance between simplicity and complexity. The addition of Aspirations in particular really made each Sim more full of personality. The motive rewards were great to play around with. The Barbie style aesthetics is also quite fun.

I finally played The Sims 4 last year myself and, well, it's about what I expected. The additions to the base games made within the last few years helped quite a lot to make the game feel more alive, but I still feel like there's a lot to do without much depth to any of it. The basic gameplay is very easy and that's why people came up with crazy challenges just to have some more fun. The interactions are pretty lacking too. But hey the Build mode is really deep if you're into that.
And also this game is when EA becomes really scummy and greedy with the Expansion Packs and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Although it definitely feels very dated, The Sims was revolutionary when it came out and it still has its charms. The characters not being able to age up kinda sucks but hey, at least you can still have a baby. It's definitely creepier than the sequels, but it's got a strong senses of aesthetics that sets it apart.

Maybe nostalgia but I still like the simplicity of the 1st one. It also has by far the best soundtrack. 3 is also really good.

2 was my favorite. I loved creating a whole neighborhood and playing everyone and building a history between all these different families. Then 3 introduced that thing where any family I wasnt playing was still active under the control of an AI, which basically ruined the series for me.

You can turn that off.

3 is the best by so much its not even funny. You can actually simulate a world, and the fact that you can take your same Sim anywhere is just unmatched.

There was that cool expansion in the sims that added magic. That was fun.

Also save scumming the genie from living large

I think the answer for anyone who has played the series extensively is the Sims 3.

I'd guess Sims 1 is winning due to more people playing it without playing the sequels.

The fact that its Sims 1 winning and not at least 2 is genuinely confusing.

Sims 1 was a PC exclusive that came out in 2000.

Sims 2 is objectively better (it doesnt change the formula and is just more) and came out on 2004.

Who are all these people that played The Sims 1 20 years ago, nothing else at all, and cared enough to click this topic and vote??

I like 4 the best. I find it hard to go back to the older sims tbh. I'll probably be the same way with 4 when 5 comes out unless 5 does something really stupid.

Sims 1 was probably the best game, if a little narrower in scope

Sims 3 is probably the best solo role-playing tool

I liked 1 because my sims wouldn't die of old age, and I could focus on building cool houses, accomplishing specific goals, etc

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

The Sims 2 is the one I played the most, so Ill go with that one.

I think I only tried to play it legitimately for a short time before resorting to cheats.
