Okay so I've seen this movie a couple of times, and I rarely see anyone ever talk about the actual plot, especially the ending.

Was Dr. Frank N Furter banned or exiled from Transsexual? Was Riff Raff and Magenta sent to Earth with him to keep an eye on him? Was creating Rocky a loophole to go back to Transsexual and that's why Riff Raff killed him?

Was all of this explained, and I just missed it every time?

Yes.

I don't think anyone really remembers the 3rd act apart from the ending in the pool because it made no goddamn sense lol.

You're looking for something that isn't worth analyzing imo.

It is my understanding that they were on earth for a reason, although Frank decided to indulge in various lascivious pleasures (such as wanting to fuck a meatloaf) instead.

Edit: Riff Raff and Magenta were upset that they were not sticking to the mission, after all.

It's never really explained why Frank and the gang are on Earth, but Riff Raff kills him in the end because Frank doesn't want to go back to Transylvania and he and Magenta do. I think the implication is that Frank wants to stay on earth to engage his hedonism, like a big fish in a small pond sort of situation. He wanted Columbia, he got Columbia. Then he shoved her aside for Eddie and got Eddie. Then he tired of Eddie, froze him, used half of his brain to create a dimwitted muscle-man homunculus and murdered him with a pickaxe. Frank-N-Furter was perfectly content stringing people along for his own twisted games, and Riff Raff acts at the end because he wanted to go home to Transsexual, Transylvania.

Edit: post 4 makes a good point about the mission. I think it's a combo of Frank's lifestyle "being too extreme", as per the end of the Floor Show, as well as his wanton and frivolous diverging from whatever agenda they initially set out with.

You could be right that Magenta and Riff Raff were sent to keep an eye on him. However, Riff Raff could have followed Frank out of his own affections for him. Listen to his freakout about Frank never liking him - that could be heartbreak.

I think creating Rocky was just his twisted way of creating the perfect partner. Strong, attractive, and with intelligence like that of an animal so he's good for sex but he'll never rear up and challenge Frank's authority.

Frank-N-Furter is a super fucked up character, but he's so fun and Tim Curry's charisma is so incredible.

Riff Raff and Magenta are his subordinates, they overthrow him cause they want to go back home. Riff Raff kills rocky because it's Frank's experiment and he's done with all of that.

This is mostly explained when Riff Raff appears with the anti-matter laser and sings

ultimately Magenta and Riff Raff were both jealous, each having once been the primary object of frank's affection, same as columbia. frank became jealous when eddie liked columbia more than him, so he took half eddie's brain to make rocky.

i think they do it for revenge, or think it'll be better for frank even.

Man I watched this movie back in high school and I don't think I have ever been more confused by a plot in my life.

this is the line of decadence that even riff raff finds distasteful.

ive listened to the soundtrack 6-7 times since i saw this topic

Basically what is written in post #5.

My thought process was always that Frank was exiled from Transsexual, because his behavior was too extreme, even for them, with Magenta and Riff Raff being his underlings that eventually got tired of his antics and just wanted to go back home.

It really is the classis case of the "bad guy" being looked at at the "good guy" because of how charismatic he is. Which happens in real life a lot more than people are willing to admit.

edit: or at least explore it, something like Forbidden Planet (mentioned in the opening song).

In any case, when Frank sees King Kong on Earth, he's so impressed with Fae Ray's dress that he abandons his mission, and everything is good for a while. Riff Raff and Magenta are his partners, and he later becomes infatuated with Eddie, and then Columbia, and then Columbia falls hard for Eddie, who Frank is now jealous of (and feels scorned by). So he uses Eddie's brain to make Rocky, deciding that he doesn't want to deal with people anymore, and he'll make the world in his image.

He recruits Janet, Brad, and the Professor into his cult. They'll be his new groupies for the foreseeable future.

Riff Raff sees him using the medusa beam and realizes Frank is unhinged; so takes over, kicks out the earthlings, and they all go back. we don't know what will happen.
