Fighting games with free alternate costumes and skins and none that get added in via dlc for each individual iteration of the game (game, ultra, super, hd, super HD, etc.)

Mega Man games were not making much money compared to the other giant titles Capcom has so it's understandable for them not to put as much resources to the series. I think MM11 did well too and I enjoyed the game. With Capcom's rebuilt good reputation I'm sure if they made more Mega Man games, consumers would buy it out of sheer good will.

With that said, if Capcom really wanted to print money then they would make more Dino Crisis games. The game has always sold well and is super popular amongst fans. With their RE Engine they could easily make a new Dino Crisis.

I haven't played DMC 5 yet but I'm saving it. I already played DMC 1-4 during the pandemic and was glad of how much I enjoyed the 3 games in the series. But dmc 5 was 3 years ago so...

One DMC game (It wasn't bad but I have a whole list of grievances), Resident Evil's gone full walking simulator and straight up sucks now, Monster Hunter I just don't bat an eye at. Never touched Dragon's Dogma mostly for the same reason I waited a few years to try Dark Souls and haven't gone near Monster Hunter, just looks like generic knights and dragons. It's got Itsuno though so I'm guessing it can be trusted if you're into that.

I liked when we'd occasionally get MM games including throwbacks with MM9 (My favorite one) and MM10, Viewtiful Joe was the best, God Hand was all gameplay and dumb fun, Dead Rising 1 was great, Resident Evil was still in its gameplay over one-time-novelties era, DMC3 and 4 are great, Marvel vs Capcom was still good, Street Fighter hadn't gone full esports costume store yet and EVO/Capcom Cup were actually something to look forward to.

What do we get now? Jogging through hallways and a focus on presentation for the most part. Miserable. Around 2012 something just came loose in Capcom's collective brain and they turned into whatever we've been watching shamble around for the past decade.

I was looking for something that condenses little to no replay value, being made to watch cinematics, atmosphere being prioritised over gameplay, gameplay that mostly consists of slowly walking around shuffling objects back and forth.

Cashgrab was too vague and more hostile than descriptive, one-and-done is kind of nice but you know they'll tell you it has other difficulties and like one unlockable stronger pistol like that's gonna grant any non-speedrunner thousands of hours of gameplay. Eventually I resolved to just say walking simulator and elaborate if they asked.

At least in an FPS like Payday 2 they'll give me some action, co-op, some customisation options and a reason to go back. ZEALs have me more on edge than any generic horror monster. Even something like Bioshock which loves to forcefeed you story bits would try to make things interesting with the plasmids and some world design/lore beyond 'walk slowly around dark house where that F.E.A.R. character is up to her old tricks'. 7 is excruciating. Waiting simulator maybe? Is that the one?

Edit: At least Resident Evil 6 will let you play a video game in its mercs mode and the co-op could serve as an in-joke factory. 7 takes the worst of 6, strips away anything that might make you laugh and swaps the characters out for a slightly panicked piece of damp bread with a pistol. You'd think the people praising 7 and dumping on 6 got all their opinions from Cinemasins the way they snapped to attention when they heard this one was going to be serious..
