It's really quite telling that they'd rather not release it at all than release it with a PEGI-18 rating that clearly indicates the gambling mechanics.

How much has he played of it? My understanding is that it's generally quite good for the first few hours before it starts driving in the wedge of monetization and getting progressively worse unless you start dropping a couple dollars here and there.

Alternatively, how much has he spent?

I've been told (and from what I've played) it's genuinely a fun and proper diablo game.
But the monetization is just absolutely too far.

I don't know who that is or what the auto play is in Diablo Immortal but I played it on my phone with a controller. The only thing I saw being done automatically is you can set a destination and have it auto run for you? idk. I only played it for maybe 2 hours.

Yeah there's a big hive mind with some stuff like this but in this case I'd trust it

The sad thing is hes absolutely right.

The actual gameplay is fun af. But lets face it, the goal of 99.99% of players is to become a monster. And when you stop to think that what stands in your way of that goal is an insane amount of money, you just stop giving a fuck despite how fun the gameplay is.

In what way is the gameplay fun

its endless radiant quests in the same 3 zones and the enemies are all damage sponges that mostly just sit there letting you attack them

meanwhile the bosses are just bigger damage sponges with survival coming down to dont stand on the colors every single time

It has become a trend in gaming lately yeah for attacks to be slow and the hitboxes to be shown ahead of time.

play above a casual difficulty, and mechanics become a lot less telegraphed dodges and a lot more "correctly interpret this mechanic's resolution as a team or die"

on normal raids and below it's definitely telegraph puddle hell with maybe 1-2 non-brainless mechanics per fight, tho

I know I've played savage and extreme content and they suck ass. It's like marching band but even worse.
