Yeah, I just finished that one today and Im somewhere in episode 5 right now. Solid season so far!

Im very pleased so far! And I love the length of the episodes. Gonna sleep now though so no more ST today.

It was a super slow start to the season, and I'm still not all that satisified with the plot they gave to some of the characters but I'm willing to give the finale a fair shot.

I do think I need to go back and rewatch season 3 though. I don't think I ever gave it a fair shot.

How awesome would it have been if the headphones disconnected while Max was being levitated and she just got gruesomely killed of in front of her friends.

That ending sequence was sooo good. We know it is possible to fight back now! I want NO spoilers but my hope it'll take a Dream Warriors route and the kids will actually be able to fight back in maybe really cool ways. I'll be watching episode 5 today. Restraining myself to 1 a day lol.

I will say that I generally don't worry about the main cast in this show and I was like 70% sure they weren't going to show Max being brutally murdered on screen, but the show did a good enough job that I still wasn't sure right up to the end.

The cut to black fake-out was a nice touch. Pity they ended up abusing that like three more times in the mid-season finale, lol.

I won't presume to say that the show would never go as far as to kill off one of the teen protagonists, but imo there's a good chance it would ruin the dynamic of the show if it happened. ST has always walked that tightrope between fun teen adventure and gruesome cosmic horror. It wavered a couple times during S3; most notably when they're being chased down the road by the monster in what's supposed to be a fun, goofy scene, but it's tough to fully get in a jovial mood that when you remember the particularly-horrific scene that birthed said monster. It's also kind of tough to buy that Max is lightheartedly teasing Dustin over the 'Neverending Story' bit when she's obviously pretty broken up about Billy's death. But in spite of a few near-missteps, the showrunners have done a pretty admirable job of maintaining that balance.

Point being, if they ever decide to kill off one of the teenage protagonists, I think it would be really, really hard for the surviving characters to plausibly inject that lighthearted humor into any given scene from that point onward. Plus, after the backlash they got for somewhat-unceremoniously killing off Barb and their obvious compensation for that in later seasons, I think the creators at least understand the full weight of the consequences if they took things that far.

Just finished that one, definitely the best one so far. I actually wondered if they were gonna kill off Max. It has been a criticism that ST seems afraid to kill off main characters so I thought this would be a case of "oh yeah, see how you like it now!" They didn't in the end but still have the rest of the season to go!

Most likely no one will die.

The death that makes the most sense to me is Eleven.

Gotta butt feeling that Jonathan could die just because he's on the expendable side and doesn't have the fan following or emotional payoff of other expendable characters.

Eddie being the new guy is extremely expendable, but I do not see them fucking with his popularity. He's gonna get saved by Eleven with the rest of the gang when they're surrounded by the town mob. But she's gonna demonstrate a greater control of her power as she gently moves the townspeople aside. Lines like "Leave my friends alone!" and
"I am not a monster. I'm a person."

A very Dragon Ball Z esque moment where people are like gat dam El you got stronger.
