Once they crack down on account sharing, idk if I'll ever use Netflix again.

Remember that it's a moddable offense to suggest that you will be pirating all Netflix content from this point forward.

I love Stranger Things, but that's an absurd amount. I'm sure a lot went to into the CG budget, but holy jeez, how on Earth are they spending that much?

I have a hard time imagining that. Like I don't know what you can even spend $30m per episode on.

Like the Mandalorian is like $15m per episode and looks phenomenal. I can't imagine needing more than that for Stranger Things.

To be fair, password sharing OBVIOUSLY hurts their profits.

If they can assume even 20% of the people who are watching are sharing accounts, I get why that would be a piss off.

Ultimately there is nothing you can do about it unless you had an e-mail authentication and other bullshit, but it is a legit thing that will impact their numbers.

good. fuck entitled leeches who wont pay for the content they enjoy. sorry, but just because you don't like how a company does certain things does not make you entitled to enjoy their products without paying. would you walk out of Walmart with a cart full of groceries because you dislike how little they pay their employees? of course not because that's stealing.

You're making the assumption that if password sharing didn't exist, they'd all get Netflix accounts. That's a common miscalculation when trying to gauge cost losses as people normally do with piracy.

Apparently Netflix One Piece is going to be quite expensive.

Netflix is taking a risk on the account sharing thing; Some people will probably get their own if they can't share, but others may be currently sharing accounts and sharing the bill who will drop it. Others may have it for the sharing convenience, plus as we can see by the pushback it's bad publicity.

Have they been de-aged? I thought everyone looked close to their actual ages. None of the main cast is old enough to need that done.

I'm usually pretty intense about not enabling piracy but your family sharing a Netflix account doesn't really have the same energy as that to me. Sharing your account with a ton of random people sure, but this isn't that.

im not complaining about people who share a Netflix account within a family. im talking about people who have this attitude of "oh, well Netflix is doing something I disagree with, so I feel jusitified in stealing as much of their content as i want". sorry, but just because you don't agree with the terms of sale does not give you permission to steal.

Stranger Things is massively overrated, but it's understandable why Netflix would dump soo much money into the series. It's the show that increased their subscriber base by A LOT, no other show was able to do such numbers. The only other show that had a bigger view count was Squid Games, but it only increased the subscriber base by fractions in comparison to Stranger Things.

But yeah password sharings obviously hurt their profits, but I think just the way the streaming market works is hurting it more. Netflix used to be the penultimate way to watch whatever hell you wanted, when their library was fucking huge. With the bajillion streaming services widely available and Netflix with their increased pricing, you can definitely see why so many people dropped Netflix or result to password sharing. It just doesn't have the thing most people loved about Netflix when it was first released. It was inevitable that this was eventually going to happen to Netflix.

The thing with Stranger things and why its 30 million an episode is because they do a ton of it practically. So while yes there is a lot of CGI work to be done. They are also a series that requires a lot of on location filming and complex sets to be made. Not to mention its a period piece. The set dressing has to look authentic. So you either have to buy it or make it.

Its a giant spiral of costs to make something like that.

They're all at least 18 now and some of them look older than that.

At this point they either need to CGI them into hobbits or do a time skip.

@Giant_Aspirin Ah, now that I can agree with. Personally my biggest complaint is they stopped releasing all their shows on dvd, I like adding to my collection but it seems they decided that hit their bottom line or something.
