This website called out a user who is a part of multiple gaming forums spreading fake rumours after a Nintendo Direct presentation that happened not too long ago making outrageous predictions and just hoping some of them stick and bragging about it after..and gamefaqs is one of those sites they used to post supposed true rumours on what Nintendo was going to announce which end up not coming true.

And they mentioned Gamefaqs but not before making a subtle diss...do you think it was?...

SAD BUT TRUE As detailed in the video, Cartwright came up with as many possible "predictions" as he could, then deleted the errant tweets after Nintendos Direct had aired. He then used proxy social media accounts and posts on large gaming forums like GameFAQs (yes, people still use GameFAQs) to drive "organic" interest in the account.

I doubt we will see a spike in new users.

It's no secret that very few people still use GameFAQs. It's been all but completely supplanted by Reddit, game-specific wikis, and a handful of other, more specialized forums.

That may be so, but there is still a point to its existence. There is definitely less toxicity at this point than Reddit, and wikis... that's largely unthinkable for me imo. Talk about a gd farce.

Debatable. Really depends on the sub/board.

Though some of the more troublesome users on here have decided to just start blocking the rest of us, which is fine by me, but must be pretty lonely for them talking to nothing but their own alts all day.

I feel like gamefaqs message boards die one day like the IMDb board did and we are left without the ability to say bye to eachother and will one day just have to move on cold turkey from this site.

I suppose. That doesn't seem to be a thing so much there, just haters getting banned and coming back soon after. Funny that those guys would go to such trouble I got to say.

That's a depressing thought. I know they were absolutely infested by trolls and other such garbage by the end, but that was the main reason I went there, I hate to admit. I seriously avoid that place like the plague now.

I loved the IMDb message boards for some movies. Specifically for cloverfield when it was first coming out and there was so much mystery behind it, and the crazy marketing campaign was the best fucking thing ever

Look at all those people on YT hoping to claim clicks and subs by posting crap and hoping they're right.

The fact that I can follow up on somebody's posting history on fetishistic subreddits is a definite plus for Reddit tbh. Imagine if we could all just click Zeus's account and be bombarded with messages he left on raceplay topics.
