i'm feeling like pizza this weekend but i don't want any meat. there used to be a Mellow Mushroom nearby that had solid tofu / tempeh options but they closed. if i get pizza with only veggies and almost no protein it won't fill me up (Edit: won't fill me up for as long).

vegetarians of CE, what do you do for pizza?

in general, when i eat meals lacking in protein i find myself hungry sooner. so, yeah, i can get full from 3-4 slices, but i'll be hungry again in like 2-3 hours.

absolutely! i've had a taco pizza before and subbed black beans for the meat and it was REAL good. but most places don't offer that. i was thinking about being super lazy + cheap and getting Domino's or something

One time I visited a pizza place, and the sign on the wall outside that they bought somewhere and had nothing to do with what they served had broccoli on it and I thought broccoli on pizza sounds fucking excellent, I'll have that, good sir.

But they didn't serve broccoli on pizza.

Never found a place that does.

Mellow Mushroom's veggie delight pizza used to have broccoli but it looks like they took it off. when i make frozen pizza at home i'll put frozen veggies on it and sometimes do a broccoli / cauliflower mix. it works!

unfortunately for me, i really, really hate mushrooms. really gets in the way when i'm looking for meatless options. =/

i have had artichoke hearts on pizza (again from Mellow) and they were good. didn't realize those had protein.

You can't really do mushroom chunks on pizza. The slice works very well for the pizza format.

Have you tried blaze pizza? They might have more options you'll enjoy.

that's one of those "fast pizza" joints, right? we have a Mod Pizza right around the corner from me but i've not tried Blaze. they have good veggie proteins? good to know, thanks!

more the flavor than the texture, but the "rubbery" ones out of a can are especially gross.

i can handle them sometimes, like when i get hibachi (japanese steakhouse) i order the fried rice every damn time and don't ask them to hold the mushrooms. when i eat the mushroom + onion soup they serve, i can do the broth just fine but if i get even a piece of mushroom in my mouth i almost gag.

i could probably handle 'em if they were diced up in cheese ravioli.

it doesn't make sense.

There are a few places near me that make pizzas with black beans, avocado, feta, tomatos and herbs. They are good and pretty filling (slices are heavier than most other slices). You wont that at any chain place though.

Just get it with meat

that's exactly the kinda pizza i'm looking for, that sounds real good.

i just ordered Domino's and exactly zero meatless protein options. oh well. got the chicken taco pizza, hold the chicken, add jalapenos.

As a vegetarian my go to pizza is typically spinach and feta. Which Domino's actually does decent on.

Damn, vege bro, I applaud you for accepting this no meat challenge.

It could be worse. You could be a life long vegetarian that cannot stand onions in any capacity, despite trying to develop a taste for them for over two decades. And while I don't dislike the taste of mushrooms the texture can easily make me gag if I'm not very careful about how I eat them.

i truly feel for you folks who are unable to enjoy onions because they really are in so many foods and they're often hard to pick out.

I love meat but dont like meat on pizza. Veggie pizza > meat pizza

When I was growing up I disliked onions. Then I grew up and tried them a couple fucking times, sauteed or chopped whatever, and realized it's objectively wrong to dislike onions. My picky ass fucking lunchables elitist wife can enjoy onions, dog.

that Mighty Meaty is just too, too much. even when i'm feeling carnivorous i can't eat something like that. as you said, it's just a grease pit. and then there's all the salt. ugh.

tofu is something i have mixed feelings about. i used to avoid it because i thought i didn't like the texture, it's all spongy and weird. but as i've started eating more plants and less meat, i've tried tofu more and more and i'm starting to get used to it. sometimes it can upset my stomach, but i haven't quite figured out what it is exactly. it tastes like ... nothing, it just absorbs whatever you cook it in. last time i got Mellow they had various flavors of tofu to put on pizzas, i especially like the yellow curry one on the Thai Dye Pie.

Local place here has pickles, artichoke hearts and broccoli as an option, I like artichoke and broccoli garlic white pizza.

Oh I promise you I have tried. And I continue to try. Shit, even yesterday I tried to eat an onion ring and got half way through before I gave up.

Trust me I don't want to be a vegetarian who doesn't like onions.
