I dont get calls but my elderly mom gets letters sent to her house frequently. They are typed but have a font that tries to imitate handwriting. Its gross, theyre obviously preying on people.

yup. i get a call like this like 4-5 times a week. i dont answer though b/c my phone labels it as either "Spam" or "Telemarketer". i listen to the voicemail and it's either in Chinese or it's someone trying to buy my house.

if you answer the phone then "they" know you're a real person and the calls just become more frequent. it would be kinda tempting just to lob out an insane number like "ok give me a million bucks and we're on". then i could retire o_o

there's a guy that makes the rounds in my neighborhood every few months doing this. my neighbor is rehabbing his house and has dodged the guy a dozen times, so he came back one night and planted a "we buy crap homes" sign in his yard...

meh, they know you're not actually going to shoot them, and the "no solicitors" signs mean fuck all anyway.

i dont know what the guy hopes to accomplish by pissing people off though. i suspect he's the one that's done some half-assed rehabs in the neighborhood, where they tear down all but like one wall and then functionally rebuild a shit house based off of decades old code and call it a rehab since they preserved a wall. guy's a shithead.
