This is always going to happen. You convinced millions of people that their political enemies literally stole an election. People with guns. People who are obsessed with the American revolution and the Confederacy and "liberty". You're gonna get violence from that. The entire conservative movement since FDR has been this process of escalation and the crazies generating a next generation of worse crazies and only realizing what they've done when it's too late or when it starts to affect them, if at all.

In some ways the question exposes how obvious the grift is. If we arm ourselves to protect from tyranny, and the election has apparently been stolen with undeniable evidence (from Facebook and whatnot), why would we NOT be in armed conflict with the people who performed the coup to unseat our democratically elected leader?

im starting to become legit worried about what's going to happen in future elections when Republicans dont win. i worry they're going to take this narrative even further every. single. time.

all this was doing was planting the seed of doubt and seeing how their cult would respond to calls for violence and it's working. 01/06 was just a test. a test of the cult MAGA base, a test of how much the mainstream GOP would back / support (or at least not denounce) and how the general public would respond.

and when everyone involved in the actual violent insurrection are given slaps on the wrist, it doesn't really deter folks from doing this again next time.

the Republican Party is a legitimate threat to American democracy at this point and i really dont understand how anyone remotely moderate or not far-right can still support them.

Conservative radio hosts like Limbaugh have been telling their listeners that democrats and liberals are their enemies, trying to destroy their way life, are treasonous and un-American for fucking decades. No one who has been paying attention can pretend they didn't know how this was going to end.

Next step is going to be sectarian violence ignored by the cops and winked at by party officials.

Agreed, and I'm legit concerned whether they win or lose; them willing is bad news already, but them losing will make them throw yet another temper tantrum, and there's a good chance that they could succeed in overthrowing democracy, especially since the Dems and the courts have been so limp-dick on the insurrectionists.
