It does slow down again in the next major arc then picks up again. I didn't get into OP until after BLEACH ended (which was still some 5 years ago now). I had originally tried it around 2010 when I was reading both BLEACH and Naruto but it didn't grab me. It was a lot easier getting into it the second time for the simple fact I had no series to read then. MHA and Black Clover were still pretty new and I was waiting to see if they got big before reading them. I hate to start new series that then get cancelled. So I picked up OP and Kingdom at the same time. This is because unlike some other shows they tend to never forget characters or events/arcs and are always linking things together in some way to make you go, "wow!". Like you'll importance given to a minor moment you took for granted 300 or 500 episodes or chapters ago and suddenly things feel even more complete and the story feels even better. One piece is a comic/cartoon for the type of person that gets involved in the story and the lore and is going to not just forget about characters or be there strictly for the action Although really, the people that get it... just get it, and understand at least by arlong/loguetown that they are in for something great. If you don't feel it, it's no big deal, but as someone that is almost a superfan of the series, there hasn't been another manga I was ever invested in as this one in terms of story, lore, characters, and definitely not a comic that has given me the feels like One Piece.
