Just further proof that Nintendo deliberately hamstrings their first generation products to make the second generation vastly better without actually being technically better.

Now they're inevitably going to make a switch lite with OLED.

and then, at the very end of the Switch's lifecycle and a few months before the next console comes out, they'll magically find a solution to the drifting joycons so they'll release an entirely new Switch model that you have to buy if you want the "fixed" joycons.

Does Nintendo still do free joy con repairs? I almost never play handheld and all 4 of my joy cons drifting is a big reason why. I hopped in that free repair train when they started that though.

Would you have preferred the Switch be $350 or $400 at launch instead of $300?

So here's one thing that was a bit confusing online: patched vs unpatched. I was under the impression that the Switch had a physical fix to the exploit (called the RCM patch). So does it matter which firmware you are on if you have the "unpatched" model?

with the hardware unpatched version it doesn't.

Yes $100 wasn't make or break my purchase decision. Honestly untik this comment I couldn't tell you how much a switch cost.

Iirc I payed more than $300 anyways because the only switch option was gamestops bundle which came with games I've never touched

Thank you... and good news for me <_<

If they don't put out a Switch Pro and the Switch 2 is fully BC, I'll pick up an OLED to be my legit Switch and hack my current one. I know you can switch between your legit and hacked nands but I don't trust myself to do that without fail lol.

I hate to say this but I highly doubt Nintendo will ever fix the drifting issue

It's much more profitable to get people to buy $70 controllers every few months

It's shitty, and I really expected better of them. I have N64 controllers for 25 years ago that still work like new and those had notoriously flimsy sticks

Yup, same.

When Im away from my house Im usually working or doing something with the family, and then when Im home it would be kinda silly to play something on a tiny screen when I have a perfectly good TV.

Nintendo has always held back on obvious features and functionalities so they can sell you those "upgrades" (standard features) at a higher price down the line.

And it always works for them.

I'm more than likely going to get a pair of those to replace my old 'cons

The problem with those, however, is the lack of gyro controls (which render some games unplayable) and amiibo functionality

(also no rumble, but that's no big loss)

My daughter was going through joycons. But these (got her the eevee/pikachu one) are fantastic for younger kids that might not be being too gentle on the sticks.

Honestly, I think the bigger deal with the OLED switch, and ironically one that Nintendo almost never talked about, is that the screen is so much bigger. Like so, so much bigger.

Hori Split-Pro Controller

Pros:
NO DRIFT
Programmable buttons
Turbo buttons
Cheaper than official controllers
Larger, easier to hold

Cons:
No gyro
No rumble
No amiibo scan
Turbo buttons are kinda iffy, don't always register

^this is just what I've heard about them
