Just finished the first episode, and I loved it. Ive never heard this board talk about it much, so I wasnt sure how everyone felt. I know the first game was really loved around here.

It's a very solid game, just not on the same level as the first. The soundtrack isn't at memorable, the characters are good but the road trip style stops you from every getting to know anyone outside of the brothers too much (and Daniel kinda sucks half the time), and not having the player have control over the powers takes something away from it too I think.

Overall I definitely enjoyed it but it didn't have the same impact for me

I found the concept of LiS2 less compelling and the reviews weren't as great so I never even tried it. After really enjoying True Colors, though, I'm now much more interested in finally playing the second one.

Reviews werent great across the board. It has some faults, but I enjoyed it and you shouldn't feel weird at all for enjoying it as well.

I loved it but every episode I found myself missing the characters from the previous episode. It was just a weird structure.

I loved the first game and its prequel, but hated the second, and I think part of it was how I disliked Sean and Daniel, and felt either similar dislike or complete apathy toward everyone else since they came and went so fast. Daniel was the "obnoxious 9 y/o" that was a questionable decision in the first place. The lack of complex relationships was also a turnoff since the first game had like eight and LIS2 has only one.

Daniel getting the superpower as opposed to Sean was a letdown that removed the gameplay elements of the first game. The combination of player choice and abusing time travel is pretty fucking cool, and LIS2 didn't have that. The entire plot was also stupid, since the devs forgot that extradition is a thing and the cops only showed up to move the plot along. This is bad because the game presents itself as realistic, but the writing contradicts that. After I got midway through the third episode, I just gave up and watched all the endings.

I'm hoping that True Colors is better but I don't have the money for it yet.

I found that each episode individually was cool in LiS2 but the game was ultimately less than its parts. I mostly blame wasted decision-making moments like how to handle money when it doesn't matter by the next episode.

After beating the game I found myself appreciating how the game handled immediate player decisions VS the long-term lessons learned from witnessing them, but that is a specific at-the-end thing and that is a mechanical appreciation more than a story appreciation.

My opinion after LiS2 is the series doesn't need to do large time-skips mid-game anymore. Also, as much as I like the song, that Justice song during the truck-riding montage felt the most out of place in the series.

LiS >> LiS2 => LiS:BtS

I love LiS1 so much. That game and The Walking Dead S1 were the two standout games of its kind and both still holds up as classic of that genre.

LiS:BtS felt largely unnecessary and while it had some nice moments it felt more like an expanded DLC than anything.

LiS2 didn't grip me at all but to be fair I only played episode 1 and didn't have the desire to play the rest.

I'm looking forward to this game though because it sounds like something that captures the essence of the first game.

As soon as I'm done with Tales of Arise, this game is up next.
