It's in open beta right now and the full release is either the end of this month or sometime next month. I've been having a lot of fun and it's pretty crazy that nobody thought to add portals to FPS.

This is like the worst combination possible for me. I'm not great at FPS games and they decide to add something that is guaranteed to get me lost and confused and not sure what's going on around me....

I'm not super great at FPS either but I think the portals actually make it easier because you can be tricky in fights instead of having to rely on pure skill.

Got in after about ~10 minutes of waiting in queue, was pretty dang fun.

Definitely scratches that Halo itch but I didn't bother with portal's too much aside from a few quick emergency retreats; seems like something that could be pretty crazy once people start to get used to how to use those effectively.

My only real complaint is that grenades and melee felt a little weak.

Well grenades actually don't do any damage to other players, they're just for closing enemy portals. I wouldn't mind an actual grenade though. Melee does 50 damage which is half health so I think that's fine honestly.

I'm excited to see what pro players can do with these portal shenanigans.

Got my first round of team oddball, that was a lot of fun with the added maneuverability of the jetpacks. Makes me think oddball in Infinite with the grappling hook to flee will be amazing.

Might be neat to watch as an e-sport, but I think I would find playing this game infuriating. I like to know where I'm being shot from when I die. Even if it's a snipe, there's usually some understanding or expectation. This looks like you can literally just die at any time from any angle. That doesn't sound fun.

Yes. The game is super fun

I don't like the 3v3 maps- the more players the better. In fact, I'd like if they could increase team sizes even further

The only time I didn't know where I was shot from, the game pulled up a kill cam

It takes a hot minute to learn a map, but the portal spots aren't oppressive

I've also noticed that the game really highlights enemy players, so I don't need to squint to pick out ones that are far away

I do wish there were actual grenades, but some of the weapons seem to have more splash than usual. The shotgun does a lot of damage at longer ranges than I would expect

Wow Team Fiesta is a lot of fun. It's Team Deathmatch but your loadout is randomized whenever you die.

Ah okay, thanks for clearing that up. Based on you specifically calling this a F2P Halo, I assumed that you were intimately familiar with the series, but your post about a mode that had been around in Halo since 2007 created some dissonance that confused me.
