Colorism is a real issue and the fact that you put it in quotes is alarming.

I havent seen the movie but in the trailer there is a black guy that I thought is supposed to be one of the major characters. But maybe he's the only black guy in rhe movie I dont know. Or he isn't as major a character as I assumed

LatinX? Or is it pronounced La-tincks? Half of my street is Latin but I've never heard that term, I've only seen it written out online from certain news organizations.

I believe it's the reason the John Henry movie starring The Rock fell apart.

That's not colorism, that's actual racism. The Rock is mixed.

Its a word made up by white SJWs who don't like gendered words latina / latino.

The movie did great for the culture. The problem is that it did not properly represent the Washington Heights neighborhood. That is a majority darker skinned Afro-latino population and the movie was like 95% light skinned latinos and none of the lead roles was for a darker skinned latino. The one black male lead was not for a latino character.

I agree with TWC's take on this:

You simply cant apologize for realizing your own artistic creation, ever. Its your art! Crowdsourcing feedback is not just unfair when youre forced to grovel over the whims of representation, its also anathema to what makes a work of art powerfulan auteurs unique vision.

While colorism is real, and complaints about it are valid, I would consider being omitted from a musical to be a blessing.

I hate the latinx thing, but colorism is still annoyingly commonplace. My ex's abuela liked me solely on the basis that "her baby was getting married to a nice white man who spoke English."

I'm Puerto Rican, but you know, shiny colored.

But did they do that prior to release because that's how they truly felt and they knew they ended up with the final result despite them having made an effort to have more diversity or did they apologize after release when the public let them know they believed it to he a problem?

so it's curious that he (Miranda) who wrote the movie, produced it and is IN it never once noticed the lack of afro-Latino actors during the entire process

It was made by Spanish-speaking academics...
Only about 2-3% use it and only about 15% actually dislike it (most aren't aware).

Yeah that is why I wasn't getting what that poster was saying. I didn't read in the apology where he said that having white Latinos wasn't apart of his vision. So I asked where he said that
