More of a henshin character.
Which is basically the same thing except shounen instead of shoujou.

Effectively yes. Just two styles of transforming heroes, that do have quite some overlap.

You have the worst fucking shitposts.

More importantly the henshin (or transformation) aspect to magical girls didn't really become a thing until the 90s. Prior to that, magical girls were always just magical girls. They took the transformation gimmick from male entertainment that was already popular for decades. However, and far more importantly, ALL of those things came long, long after Shazam's Captain Marvel which is the codifier for He-Man: Namely a youth hero with a mystical mentor figure who grants him access to powers by shouting a magical word under certain circumstances.

Shazam/Captain Marvel first appeared in 1940 and was arguably more popular than Superman until DC sued Fawcett Comics and forced them to stop using him. However, you can draw a pretty direct parallel between Captain Marvel since he had a reasonably popular show in the 70s.

On a related note, I suppose that She-Ra was either or among the very first henshin/transforming magical girl, notably beating out Sailor Moon.

No, because that would be like arguing "effectively all bicycles are cars" or "effectively all humans are birds".

Transforming heroes either are technological or magical. "Magical Girl" is just a recurring sub-genre with its own history of tropes.

He-Man was derived from Blackstar

he man was mostly influence by conan the barbarian 1980 film. The two sword thing might have had some influence but that was ditched in the tv show. The black star toys swords never really fit together anyway.

the toy came first with the notion of creating a bigger more bad ass toy. The cartoon was developed later because you needed a cartoon to sell in the 80s w the toy. He man was originally a wandering barbarian. Prince Adam was made strictly for the cartoon.

It's more a matter that Filmation worked on both. I'm not sure how many elements Mattel had in place before getting Filmation to do the cartoon.

Only in one canon, and it was kind of a shitty development from a storyline perspective.

wow!

you must be 2000+ born....
that show, even seemingly aimed at a younger age group that the original he man, was way more adult and better written with slow unfolding story.

you must be in a drunken stupor or just trolling.

there are tons of subjective reasons to not like the show that can be chalked up to simple opinion and taste. But structurally, development wise, and storytelling wise its more solid cohesive and better written than every aspect of he man and certainly better than the old (women cant punch people) she ra cartoon of the 80s.

maybe Kevin smith can do something comparable w his he man re boot (I hope he does, it he doesnt it all dies on the vine), but for now that series is pretty much the gold standard for the masters of the universe. And I was around and playing w the 80s toys before the cartoon came out.

maybe thats the best he man. Scrap the prince Adam crap. Go back to the comics that came w each toy.

My account is from 2002, so how does that match work? Meanwhile you made your most recent joke account (well, that joke account) in 2017.

Are you talking about Blackstar or the She-Ra reboot? I can't tell what you're rambling about because you're too incoherent from the get-go. Even later on in the post, I wasn't sure since it was such a non sequitur

I criticized ONE plot development and you pretend that it's an indictment of the show as a whole. And, honestly, that show does deserve be indicted, but not for that reason.

I wouldn't even give it a gold sticker, let alone call it a gold standard. The writing wasn't particularly great, most of the character designs looked ripped from Tumblr, the fight scenes were often just awful to the point where I wondered why they bothered having them, etc. I wouldn't say that it was the worst thing ever, but the only things it had over the 80s She-Ra were a larger amount of running continuity (which isn't so much a credit to the show but just how cartoons tend to work now), the fact that it's newer, and they didn't go as budget on the VA-work

And if Kevin Smith is doing a He-Man reboot, I don't have high hopes.

Otherwise I remember the 2000s He-Man getting some praise when it came out, but I'm not sure how well it aged since I haven't seen that one.
