I cant think of a single time theyve not been literally trash.

Harry Potter? Literally trash.

Digimon 02? Literally trash.

Charmed? Literally trash.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger? Literally trash.

If youre telling a story, and you feel tempted to do a time-skip epilogue, just do yourself and all your viewers/readers a favor and dont. >_>

time skip that changes everything (and avoids explaining shit) is kinda bs for me

i've seen a few time skips that just shows how the characters grew since the supposed finale and that's alright for me

I always felt it was bullshit how in Chrono Trigger/Cross all the heroes of Chrono Trigger were killed relatively easily

Wake up. You have to wake up. *currently a preta/hungry ghost*
Dai Grepher: I was wrong. My entire theory is incorrect. Zero Mission IS a remake of Metroid.

Lol I forgot that technically the backstory of Cross got injected into the post-credits anime cutscenes of Trigger. Literally trash.

Though Im trying to imagine the conversation between Lucca and Taban/Lara when she comes home with a rnadom ass baby she just picked up off the ground

Not necessarily. Sometimes you jump forward and a character has died, and while it sucks that they just lived a life and died offscreen before you snap forward to that point in time, it's usually a good way to provide closure to the other characters and wrap a nice bow on the whole ordeal. Especially if it's a character whose function was moreso to bring the main characters together while they were more of a background character or a plot device, so their death - while impactful - doesn't encroach on the main team dynamic you enjoyed the show for.

My big media pet peeve is next generation stories. Mortal Kombat X - didn't like the new cast. I thought Star Wars had a chance, but each movie was worse than the last and it's so disappointing that it didn't live up to expectations. But then you have Creed, which is probably the poster boy for how to do a reboot.

Despite my distaste for next generation stories, I can't write it off completely any more. I'm wary of the concept, but it's less of the plot's fault and more the way it's used. It just so happens that most of the time, it's dogshit.

Does it count if the story is being told in flashback? If so, The Green Mile is great.

I liked the stinger in Final Fantasy 7.

The time skips in the improvised Christopher Guest movies are pretty great.
