I played odyssey when it came out and had a decent enough time. Dont have a ton of experience with this series otherwise, but for some reason Valhalla kind of seems less interesting than origins despite me being more into Viking history than Egyptian history.

And is animus bullshit at a minimum here as well? Because the way I played odyssey (and most Ubisoft games tbh) is just skipping through all the story and just doing all the fun open worldy sidequesty stuff for the most part until I need to do main quests to progress

Really I heard people complaining about Valhalla because it has much slower movement

No. I enjoyed Odyssey well enough and completed the main story and tried to play Origins afterwords. I got bored halfway through and quit because it's just too similar.

I bought origins because I like the setting. The discovery tour was sick too and seeing historical landmarks recreated. Other than that, the game is too long and not different enough compared to other games so I dropped it.

I thought it was fantastic. Great story and one of my favorite AC protagonists. It also puts way less emphasis on the ship stuff, which is nice because Odyssey and Valhalla lean so heavily on it

See when people say great story about a Ubisoft game I start raising an eyebrow because their stories are almost always mostly trash, sometimes at least on a b-movie level of enjoyment, but still

>_> i actually loved origins but im a sucker for ancient egyptian lore

the dlc was mind blowing ill say that much

edit: the combat is disappointing sometimes, youll find standing 300 meters away and sniping with a bow can do everything for you

I don't understand how you could know this if you always skip the cutscenes in Ubi games, but in comparison to other AC games I would say it was above average

Im skipping because its bad dawg. Not a normal practice for me, usually bad writing will turn me away but Ubisoft games can be fun enough to power through sometimes

Its more of an AC game than Odyssey or Valhalla story-wise but who knows, you might like the way it presents things more than those two

Origins > Valhalla > Odyssey in terms of story.

Valhalla > Odyssey > Origins in terms of Gameplay.

And yes Origins is a great game.

If you're skipping it anyway then it doesn't matter.

Origins is a good game and you should play it

Comparing Origins to Odyssey
Origins
+ better setting
+ more captivating story
+ better characters
+ more emphasis on assassin style gameplay
+ enemy levels aren't locked to automatically scale (which is the case in Odyssey, and a lot of people dislike)

Odyssey
+ lighthearted
+ funner melee
+ much more rooted in mythology and fiction
+ bigger map
+ loads of content
+ equipment looting and customizing "builds"
+ transmog
+ naval combat
+ mastery levels/upgrading stats

Yeah the bigger map and content in Odyssey didn't do it any favors.

And Naval Combat felt kinda boring compared to Black Flag/Rogue.

I got burnt out playing odyssey. I tried to unveil the whole map, did all the did most of the side quests and all the question marks. I ended up completing the story with 90 hours on the clock.

Couldn't make myself do the dlcs or expansions or what ever. So I wasted money buying the ultimate edition.

2 is the best. I got totally immersed in it, loved the world design, loved how you did everything in the phone app from logging music tracks to unlock them to tracking down real sights and famous people in San Fran. It was awesome starting gang wars that would just continue waging on through a neighborhood and then the cops would get involved, or getting college students arrested and then fucking with the cop car to make them go on a wild ride. And as annoying as some of the characters were, they still had character at least.

Legion was a pretty big disappointment. Everything felt sterile, like they cut a lot of features from 2, everything's done through simple menus, no unlocking music. I thought there was literally one song in the game for the first half hour I played because it was the only song that came on the radio when I got into a car. It restarted every single time. GTA 3 had a more consistent radio. Recruiting people was cool the first few times but they only designed a handful of missions so you literally wind up going to the same three locations to knock out the same guy or rescue the same gal. And it was just overall really meh. I wanted to revisit London, the last game I played there was The Getaway and it felt alive and fun and Legion didn't have that.

Also they had mentions of features I never once saw in the game. Like some characters have a discount on car paint jobs. Except I never once saw anything about actually customizing your car.

It was fun playing on the hardcore mode where your agents can permanently die though. It didn't happen too frequently but it was awesome going down in a blaze of glory in a car park and then being fucked and having to find some other badass to recruit. But even this was like ... really half-assed, you'd just switch to a new character and the new character would make an "Oh no...Anyway" comment and that's it.
