Now I'm no arachnologist, but I'm pretty sure spiders don't live thousands of years.

Do you think spiders would set up shop where there is no food, or the bugs. Those closed systems are essentially man made caves. People brought in things ranging from figs and dates for the dead to eat to actually dead slaves. Bugs move in to eat. Spiders do the same. Its what creates troglodyte life

It's more likely that the bugs and spiders came in with the food and supplies. There could never really be an ecosystem in there, though, because you don't have a long-term food source for the prey animals.

Right and thats why you would have the mssive cobwebs deep inside (the spiders were healthy enough to srvive and build....til the food ran out) the pyramids. Also you would be suprised what bugs could suvive off of like the radioactive cannibal ants.

There are probably little cracks and crevices where bugs and spiders could go in and out. People wouldnt notice them, but insects always know.

They're spiders. That's how. If it's a place where having a spider would be absolutely terrifying a spider will, somehow, find a way there eventually. It's only a matter of time before an astronaut gets into a space suit for a space walk only to discover some massive spider the size of the palm of their hand somehow hid in the helmet.

I love exploring tombs in Skyrim that have been sealed for hundreds of years and finding barrels containing tomatoes and carrots and I just collect them like, "Yeah, this looks like it's still fresh."
