Do you think these shows should be cancelled?

No tv show has ever hit a 0.0 rating on any broadcast network though the CW is always close with its 0.1 ratings for other low rated shows such as Dynasty but still received a renewal.

Though for a 0.0 rating for these 2 CW shows on a Sunday night, it appears their time is finally up.

Pandora and The Outpost both received a 0.0 rating in the coveted 18-49 ratings which means NOBODY in those groups registered to watch the season finale of these shows making history..which is not one any network wants to see.

It would probably be even more embarrassing if they get consecutive 0.0 ratings. "No one watches and no one even cares that no one watched."

I think the reality sits with anyone who this is presented to: I/they have no idea what these shows are, and what compelling draw there could be to them. They're just rocks thrown in a pond to in hopes of seeing what can float.

I'm guessing the problem is these production teams put hard work into something without researching their audience, or CW couldn't draw/budget a novel series to begin with.

I mean you look at Disney+ (kinda unfair comparison) and pretty much they don't do that. They've gunned after established franchises like Marvel and SW, acquired them, and just keep milking them. CW played that game to a limited extent with DC, but seemingly mismanaged what started as great ideas.

For anyone confused, CW cares a lot more about streaming than other networks. I forget why, but it's the reason they don't seem to really give a shit when their ratings are low. They even put up all of their shows on their own free app a few hours after they're on TV.

I mean, it's quite obvious why... their demographic does not watch traditional TV, it's almost entirely smartphones and streaming.

Nah, there was some weird thing where they have a deal with Netflix and they have a deal with some other network/company where they only pay a certain percentage of the budget or something. It's not solely just because their demographic is big on streaming.

Up until recently, the CW had a deal with Netflix where Netflix would buy the rights to any show they had as long as new episodes kept getting made. This last season was the first one since that deal ended so any new shows made starting with last season are not part of the Netflix deal. Older shows keep the deal until they end.

The situation that created is that for the last several seasons the CW has just been advertising for Netflix (that also let CBS/WB collect affiliate revenue). Ratings almost weren't a factor for renewal, particularly for any show in its second season or beyond.

With the Netflix deal winding down....not much has changed. The CW shows have gone from advertising for Netflix, which is still happening, to advertising for HBO Max and CBS All Access instead. The season 1 shows are still at the highest cancelation rate because they don't have streaming data to justify their existence yet, but otherwise ratings are not important.

^THIS.
As someone who regularly watches most CW shows (see my sig below) it's VERY rare that I see CW shows live as they are airing on TV. 98% of the time I tend to wait the next day when the new episode shows up on the CW app for streaming and the vast majority of the time I will use my Roku to watch anything on the CW app on a big screen TV (on the rare occasion I'll watch the episodes on a phone if I am away). I don't watch CW on traditional TV (so I don't factor into their TV ratings), but I do watch them a lot on the CW app streaming on my Roku.

This is how most CW fans (like myself) watch CW shows:

Informative! Does CW still stream the newest episodes on their website or did that go away once they signed with Netflix?

Even supernatural lost money on TV and only made a profit with streaming(at least as of awhile ago. Obviously the first several seasons did not have that issue)

They do. But typically they stop once they hit Netflix, which is almost always immediately once the season ends.

@SmidgeIsntBack

CW shows air the NEXT day on the CW app & website (CWTV) after they air on traditional TV.

https://www.cwtv.com/shows/

^THIS. You can use a Roku or whatever other streaming device to see the shows on TV using the CW app.

the CW show crazy ex girlfriend made history as the lowest rated show to ever be renewed for another season
but it also won an emmy

supernatural beat baywatch for the title of the longest running show to never win an emmy
charmed holds the title of longest running action show to star a female lead

so the CW has made television history its just one of the least watched networks
