They are going to have to pay out some major dollars. And that's not including cleanup and restoration, and potentially some wrongful death suits for those killed there.

Did they mayor think there would be no consequences for allowing this? That no one would take any legal action?

It's also worth noting that a lot of the major civil unrest you see in these large cities like Seattle, Minneapolis and St. Louis, their mayors (and some of the state governors) are Democratic. The other day, Trump made a statement that most violence happens in Democrat-run cities. Some block-head of a Washington Post journalist posted an article with a headline that read "They aren't" and had data from the FBI that directly contradicted the headline. Per capita of 10,000 people, the top 20 most violent cities in America are run by 19 Democrat mayors and 1 Independent. Ignoring per capita and going off just the largest cities with the most violence, 17 are run by Democrats, 2 are Independent and 1 is run by a Republican.

Except the most notorious examples of these crimes are taking place in the Democrat run cities, and like the other poster said, the mayors just sit back and do nothing.

• Minneapolis (where George Floyd was murdered)
• Seattle (CHOP/CHAZ)
• NYC (was a Covid epicenter, police are defunded over $1 billion)
• St. Louis (the infamous Ken + Karen couple that's being slandered)
• Chicago (oddly not getting the MSM coverage it deserves, more than 100 people shot over father's day weekend, including 14 deaths, 5 of which were children)
• Los Angeles (thousands of people marching in the streets during the first week of the protesting and riots)

It took weeks of inaction to get the National Guard to come in and clean up CHOP/CHAZ, the president insisted on bringing in help from day 1, and the mayor sat back and did nothing. She even visited and claimed there was no crime, while people were being extorted for money and people were shot.

Yeah you can fuck right off with this one. I live in Saint Louis. These people aren't being slandered. No one broke down the gate and came charging through like these fucking clowns said. People walked in through an unlocked pedestrian gate, which was then later damaged, and these fucks decided to brandish weapons while breaking every fucking rule of firearm safety. Everyone else who lives in that neighborhood signed and released a statement coondemning the McCloskeys.

As to your main point, yes larger cities have more crime because people actually fucking live in them. What a shocker.

Not enough resources, not enough organization. Revolutionary action requires a massive movement, not small efforts like this which are isolated. That said, this whole affair has proven that there is hope. The Seattle Police Department did abandon the area, and it was non-violent protesters which achieved this. Imagine what organized and properly equipped protesters could do. And imagine it on a massive scale. It's happened before, after all, and it's needed to happen in this country for over a century.
