Is there still a little bit of racism here and there in MIssissippi or only in Alabama, Georgia in the Southern states on the east side of the U.S.?

I wouldn't go by states, honestly. Going by cities is a much better bet. That's why in "Living in America," James Brown named specific cities where it was relatively safe for black people.

Probably the states with the least diversity will have the fewest overall number of incidents of racism. As for likelihood that a racist event will occur to an individual person by state? I wouldnt even know where to start. It probably doesnt vary all that much.

I had to go to Charleston, SC for work a couple years ago because my old job was opening a new store there... I was there to set up the network.

I decided not to rent a car and just walk around town to get where I needed to go. I was kinda surprised by all of the confederate monuments they have all over the place.

Louisiana to GA are literally going back to the 1950s. South Carolina oddly getting better, and North Carolina going back to the 70s with race and 40s with homophobia.
