What did you play?

Did any of you play this? PC Gamer CD. I remember playing this in like 1996. This is my first time seeing it in 24 years

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4Acpv3GJFE

I miss those 90s graphics

Yea I remember those pc gamer discs. Me and my brother subscribed to that magazine.

The 2 pc games I probably played the most in like the mid 90s was

Civilization 1
X-COM

Never beat either one. Hard as fuck games. But I was constantly trying. I always did ok in Civ until I hit the pollution age and things would fall apart

I was only 7 when I exited the 90s but I recall playing a handful of games:

Some Mother Goose type game where it was like an open world of Mother Goose stories

Those interactive Disney games like Toy Story and Pocahontas

And one game that I have never been able to remember clearly enough, and maybe someone here can finally reveal it to me. I remember it being a 2D side scroller and I think I played as a robot in a building at night. Or something. Fuck, no one's gonna know it.

Oh and the Star Wars Episode I game

Commander Keen?
Actually I think it was a knockoff of commander keen. My grandparents had it on their pc.
Idk the name but was it like a platformer and you shoot sorta?

No, I googled it and I finally found it. I think.

Midnight Rescue!

It looks right. What's fucking weird is I can remember my god damn bedroom and when I played it last with perfection, but I can't remember the game clearly.

Walk into the room, directly across from the door is my dresser, next to that is my small computer desk with my big ass Windows 95 PC on it, next to that is my bed. I was 6, just going into first grade. The sun was coming in through the window. I have Casper the Friendly Ghost window curtains, and matching bedsheets and comforter and pillows.

But I can't remember the fucking game

Early 90s I played Gabriel Knight, a lot of Disney's Stunt Island, a Barney mod of Wolfenstein 3D, Treasure Mountain, the Putt-Putt games, Monkey Island, and Pharaoh which I guess came out in 1999. Though it took up too much of my hard drive so I never got too far until I got a better computer.

Mostly played console games between the beginning of the decade and the end though.

edit: and a shit ton of C&C and Red Alert and GTA. I remember when I first watched my brother playing C&C, caught him at the tale end of like the second or third mission, he was just sending engineers up to capture the enemy base. I thought it was some shitty puzzle game xd.

And Interstate 76

I don't know why but I have nostalgia for mid to late 90s type of graphics. It had a charm to it, now everything strives to be as photorealistic as possible.

Same. It was more palatable because things were relatively uniform (textures, models, etc.) and there wasn't a *huge* difference between high and low settings.

Playing RDR2 now and the models look like they're made out of play-do just because I had to lower the settings to get it to run nicer -_-. The trees and everything also look really out of place.

my dad had a mac so i didn't get to play a lot of games on it.

but he did buy some educational games for kids. one was a putt-putt based launcher for games. it had some fun things to do it in. another i remember was a point and click adventure type game about magic and uh... actually thats all i remember about it.

not the 90s, but in the 00s when i got my first computer i used to play starcraft all the time.

Starcraft
C&C Red Alert
Heroes 2 & 3
Holiday Lemmings '93
Indy Last Crusade

That was about it, the ol' family PC wasn't great. I do remember using dial up internet to play red alert with the people across the street - it did work but not reliably. But the fact you could even do it back then was amazing, especially cuz we were kids and working out each others IP addresses was like hacking the mainframe to us haha!

PC gaming was just that bit out of reach for me as a kid for the most part. I always knew their games were more advanced. But my parents always got a budget PC and I didn't really know how settings worked. So most of my experience were those little PC games like Duke Nukem and Lemmings. I did have the Virtual Springfield and Simpsons Cartoon Maker though.

But I did get to experience proper PC games when I went to other friends and families places. Serious Sam was a highlight.

Kind Regards,
