You know, things like clean air and water. The Nestle case really put it into prospective that with enough like minded people in governing bodies anything and everything could fall into corporation hands in fact it's rather inevitable as time marches on

But whoever gets to Mars first probably gonna declare ownershio of whatever they want and enforce it by controlling the ferry from Mars to Earth.

At the rate things are going, yep. Half the population are cowards that will let it happen and the other half are delusional bootlickers who think they'll eventually join the CEO club.

air not so much, but aquifers, mines, oil/gas wells, mineral rights, land is often monopolized by private or public corporations, never mind the distribution

never have

ownership is not an inherently bad thing; my scruples primarily lie with public (or private but state-facilitated) monopolization, as it tends to come with reduced efficiency and higher costs

I mean, probably not air and water but if you think about it, food is almost entirely corporately owned.

Lots of quality of life things such as electricity and internet will probably never be free-range.

i'm iffy about natural monopolies

i'd like to say they're a necessary evil and don't have a personal complaint about them, but then there are flint scenarios

i will concede that i am not sufficiently informed on this topic to comment further

Electricity could be, but it's a huge hassle to maintain your own dynamo, and basement reactors are an even worse idea.

not making this up, when I was little we were at a festival and there was a set-up like that with a bicycle and a lightbulb and I fell and cut my penis on the wire that runs on top of the bicycles middle bar. and I got the last teddy bear they had at the First Aid station when they bandaged my penis up and I named him Bloody Weiner.
