I was watching Channel 10, waiting for the newest episode of The Simpsons that was premiering that night (Aussie time). It was the one where Homer started taking Maggie to Moe's, and leaving her in the sandbox with a bunch of babies who would bully her. There's a Warriors reference with a baby clinking a bunch of baby bottles together, and Marge eventually rigs up one of those video recording teddy bears to monitor her after she starts getting nervous. Homer swoops in and rescues Maggie, which Marge sees on the video tape, and all is forgiven.

They delayed the airing of the episode to air coverage of MJ's death, and I had to wait a whole fucking week to see that new Simpsons episode.

I found out 2 hours before it was made public. I was at L.A. City Hall. I was still working for the federal government at that time. I was doing some stuff with the LAPD and one of them said "did you hear?" Then he told me the news (paramedics on scene/subject can't be revived). I didn't believe it until I heard it on the radio on my way home later that day. When they played "Never can say Goodbye" on Power 106, I almost lost it.

Just went to class in college and a random girl in my class asked me what my favorite MJ song was. Then she told me its cause MIcheal died. I just remember the South Park episode making fun of him, and never really liked him much in 2009. Though weirdly now I fucking love his songs...crazy. Especially his Jackson 5 days.
