How did it do well enough for it to get sequels? Rocky had a lot of build up to the fight, but they kept things interesting by introducing new characters, motivation, etc...
Rocky 2 just has the "this is the reason why poor people stay poor" plot that's been done a million times already, and doesn't do anything interesting. I had to stop watching the movie about halfway in because it was just so bad. Not sure if it gets better, but I doubt it. Any movie that's 2 hours long, but still has to pad its run time by playing the previous movie for the first 5 minutes is bound to be bad. --- People come up to me... concerned.. that I'll reproduce." - Emo Philips ... Rocky succeeded because it was art. Rocky 2's issue was that it kept trying to be art while it didn't really have anything new to say.
Then Rocky 3 and 4 succeeded because they were ridiculously over-the-top lunacy. Then Rocky 5 stopped being fun, so everyone hated it. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... Copied to Clipboard!
