TWO WOMEN WHO vandalized the Dakota Access pipeline in an effort to halt construction have been indicted on charges that carry up to 110 years in prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. They are among the harshest penalties environmental activists have faced in the last decade. Blowing up a finished pipeline that's currently in use would be incredibly damaging, but that's not what they did. They attempted to stop the construction of one that's currently being built. Sure, there's no legal argument that they shouldn't be prosecuted, but there's a moral argument that what they did was right even if they broke the law.

The internal combustion engine has been one of the greatest developments in human history alongside vaccines. I don't believe in denying either one of them.
These pipelines are popular for one very simple reason: they are all pro and no con, from a jobs perspective, from an economic perspective making things more efficient and cheaper for everyone, even from an environmental perspective. Modern pipelines are replacing the aging infrastructure and are less dirty, have way fewer accidents than rail and so on. But there are some people who are against change just because it's different. So we see a few people who have lost in the democratic process, have lost on the facts, have lost trying to undemocratically hold up progress on these projects through the courts, resorting to violence, vandalism and illegal activities. How many of those activists do you think are opposed to bombing abortion clinics? Just curious. --- Hero/Legend of 261.
