Maybe don't talk about child-focused products on a forum populated by nearly exclusively 20+ men.

If true that makes at least some sense. I don't think people really... grasp... how bad of a situation Arendale is in thanks to Elsa.

See, here's the thing, politics exist. As much as we like the whole 'marry for love not politics' message a lot of people in the modern era don't grasp that marrying for politics was important for a VERY long time! In this case Elsa's powers made her the fantasy equiv to a nuclear weapon and whoever married her would effectively ensure that their own kingdom would be a dominate military power and whoever didn't would want to see her dead, disgraced, discredited, and whatever else. As much as people like to hate on her parents for trying to make her fear her powers Elsa keeping them hidden was basically her only chance at a 'normal' life even for a princess and putting them on full display is going to get her wrapped up in a massive amount of political turmoil.

Basically, if she kept her powers hidden and kingdom A and B wanted to marry her, she's going to have to try and eek out a matrilinial marriage (since she has no brothers and the crown passes along the male line normally). This usually puts her at a disadvantage already and limits her pool of suitors but, once done, is done. The most she might have to worry about is political manuvers to get Arendale absorbed by her husbands kingdom but that can be managed.

However with her powers on display, while her prestige will no longer be an issue and she might even get kingdoms that want to be absorbed by Arendale for protection, any kingdom she doesn't marry into is going to try and kill her to remove a very dangerous threat to their national security. Her best hope is to marry Ana off to someone else for army protection, but whichever kingdom of A or B she didn't marry will almost certainly seek out help from other nations to try and kill her since she's such a threat. To make it even worse they could easily seek the aid of the Pope and church and, well... her parents consorted with rock trolls and her powers are pretty blatantly magical in nature. Making her out to be some sort of demon witch who worships the devil wouldn't be a challenge in the slightest. She could easily end up with an entire crusade on her doorstep with only her powers and maybe a political alliance from her marriage and Anna's... maybe... to defend her.

Ultimately a loveless marriage > being executed for witchcraft and having your kingdom destroyed because you got too powerful but all that power was concentrated in one person.

However, if Ana is the queen (and Elsa is gone), all those problems go away. She's just a normal princess. At worst she might have a political marriage to deal with but that's far less damning and likely won't threaten her beyond a potentially loveless husband. Elsa can continue to help protect the nation from behind the scenes or fade away to live a mundane life with much reduced fear. Even if she has to face the occasional witch hunter, well, that's much easier than a crusade and potentially large number of assassins headed her way if she remained queen.

As... sexist... as it may sound; how capable Ana is as a leader won't really matter once she marries since, even in a matrilineal marriage, her husband would hold a lot of sway. Plus with some solid advisers to handle affairs her charisma would probably matter more than any actual leadership abilities. Pretty much the only way it would be an issue would be if she both never married and refused to listen to her advisers. Not saying it wouldn't be better if she was a capable leader, because it certainly would be, but all she *really* has to do is be a figurehead. She doesn't have to be the level of Theodora or Catherine by a longshot.

i think the main issue here is that the most popular character just ends her story as a hermit in the woods while Ana gets her happy ending

It'd be a little lame after the first movie pulled elsa out of her shell to just put her right back into it and send her into Lonely Isolation once more

Why would I want to discus a sequel to a film aimed at little girls with you? This film will sell shit loads regardless of your pointless opinions on it.

Maybe they'll change stuff. Wouldn't be the first time. Unless the novelzation is by Disney...

Also, isn't it Anna in Frozen, and not Ana?

Maybe see what people are saying before assuming that... But you probably won't because assuming is the best you can do...

The funny thing is, he doesn't even check. Just assumes, even if it's a legit comment.

I'd suggest that it's signalling that they're growing up and accepting their responsibilities willingly.
